Oh my gosh, I'm glad you found her... I'd get her in right away. While dry/crumbly brown-with-white stools can be due to chewing bones - other white stools can be a real warning sign of liver problems.

Are the whites of her eyes still white? Are they yellow at all?

I just realized this precious one passed away. I'm so sorry. It sounds like she was probably suffering prior to when you found her, so you finding her was a real blessing for her.

This was a stray dog and the lady that found her did all she was able to do. I don't see the point in making her question whether it was enough. It'll only make her feel worse than she does already. At least the dog passed in a caring environment and in warm, loving hands instead of out in the world cold and alone.

It does matter because when a dog is picked up from the streets the first thing that should be done is a vet check and if that can not be afforded the dog needs to be given to a rescue or shelter that can. She went out and bought dishes and things for this dog but couldn't take it to the vet I don't understand that.

It wasn't her dog. It wasn't her responsibility to take it to the vet. When she realized the dog was sick, she managed to do it despite the fact that it wasn't her dog! At least she did eventually, which is a lot more than most people would have.

She only had the dog a few days. Not everyone has a fat bank account laying around for unexpected expenses outside of their responsibilities. Do you think it would have gotten better treatment from the shelter? Guess again. Shelters are over run to the extent that a dog's illness goes unnoticed until it's too late.

I just don't see the point in you busting this lady's chops for at least trying to help the dog. She likely feels bad enough. Why do you have to beat up on her?

I didn't I asked a question but there is no doubt in my mind she planned to keep this dog she was not looking for the owners and she bought it bowls and things it would need therefore it was her responsibility.

If you foster a dog for a week, would you buy it some bowls to eat out of or dump the food on the floor? You have no idea what this lady's intentions were and I don't think it's respectable to jump to conclusions like that. Especially when nothing more can be done for the dog.

It would be nice to see a little more support around here and a little less condemning.

I know everyone thinks I'm new, but trust me, I'm not. I had an account on here a few years back when I was in my researching phase of getting a yorkie. I didn't post much, but I did make some friends behind the scenes. One of those friends was bullied to death by some of members of this forum. (gosh she couldn't have been more than maybe 25)

What do I mean by "to death?"
I mean several members here pushed this young gal into doing what they thought was "the right thing to do". There was a bit of a financial loss involved in her doing what everyone was so convinced was "right". About $3000 if I recall correctly. (I'm getting old).
Long story short, this "right thing to do" spiraled this gal's life out of control. Her husband left her over this decision (mind you - after he had beaten her) and took their children with him. What happened you asked? She killed herself. The stress and the tension mounted to a point where she couldn't handle it and she took her own life. All because of a dog and everyone else's perception of "the right thing to do".

So just because you think something is the "right thing to do" doesn't mean it's the right thing for them to do. You have no knowledge of extenuating circumstances that may have a greater impact. We try to do what's right for the dog, but in the end, we must do what's right for us first.

So forgive me for busting your chops, Taylor. I do not mean to offend you in any form. But when I come here and read the knee jerk reactions you've delivered people over the past few days, who have come here asking for help, it reminds me of this situation and what happened. A situation that could have been prevented had some people shown a little more understanding.

OP: I'm sure you did all you could do. Thank you for being selfless enough to take the little dog to a vet.

My only concern on this one was the fact that the OP did not mention in any way trying to find the owner of this little one. Yes she took her to the vet but I can see how we could feel that she intended to keep her as her own if she had survived. I am glad she was able to save her from a death on the streets though.

Wow, just wow. Sad story. Sounds like it should be a good reminder for some. I agree about OP. Sounds like she tried her best. That's all we can do.

A good reminder on how words start actions. We all seem to be harsh with our words sometimes. This should make everyone take a step back and think before we speak out.
