| Roxy is sick.... this morning when I woke up, I took Roxy out and when I brought her back in she vomited twice (yellow foamy bile)...she has done this before so I wasnt extremely worried...at first...I went to work & my mom was off today, she said she vomited again (same thing)...she did go to the water bowl a few times and also ate 2 dry biscuit treats (old mother hubbard)...when I got home she wasnt acting right, usually very hyper and excited to see me and running around like a maniac, but today she kind of just trotted over to me...I called the vet immediately and brought her in...did blood work and took vitals - everything came back good (relieved!) I have a suspicion that she may have eaten a button because her favorite activity is to go through the hampers and chew off any button she finds! (This morning I woke up to my clothes EVERYWHERE! lol) the vet did not feel anything in her belly to suggest an obstruction - he told me to monitor her closely. About an hour ago she awoke and started making weird sounds almost as if it was a mix of dry heaving/hyperventilating, which I was told was a reverse sneeze? (not by my vet) She got up a few mins after, drank some water and ate some food the vet gave me (high fiber)...she peed & pooped a little, now she is playing with some of her toys almost back to her old self...I'm still very worried - this little pup is my heart & soul! I will probably bring her back to the vet while i am at work tomorrow just so they can monitor her and shes not alone...I just wanted to share my story & possibly get some advice from those who have gone through similar situations before

| It could be that her tummy is too empty & building up too much acid. Are you feeding her 2 times a day & giving her snacks between meals & a snack before bedtime ? if not you can give that a try & see if it works. Two of my boys get acid stomach if they go too long without food & will vomit Bile. Last edited by lillymae; 05-09-2012 at 10:36 PM. |

| I agree with LittlyMae. Zoey had this problem and the vet said I needed to feed her more often. Empty tummy - vomit bile. We never get to sleep in because if she doesn't eat by 8 am - vomit. Cherie

| Oh, and another thing I wanted to say. As to eating buttons - Gina would pull the eyes out of her toys. She did not eat them but she broke a tooth doing it. Now I always buy toys with soft eyes. Cherie

| I'm so sorry to hear that Roxy has been sick. I hope she's feeling better soon. I was actually glad to read the other posts about their babies vomiting small amounts of bile when their tummy's are empty because our Shayla has done this the odd time too. Now I know why. |

A couple of mine do the same thing...I try to free feed but some of them will eat 35# of kibble if you put it out...THOSE are the piglets that I feed once ((1/4 cup) in the morning, and then for dinner, they get 1/8 cup plus 6 canned green beans...during the day to keep them from vomiting bile, they get a tablespoon of Vegatable Medley (carrots, celery, green beans, lima beans) mid morn and mid afternoon....keeps a little in the stomach to keep it settled. | |

| They like canned green beans? I haven't tried green beans yet. I have frozen ones and wondered if cooked or raw was better. Is the Ved Medley you use also canned? Is there much sodium in the canned veggies? I grew up on canned but somewhere along the way switched to frozen, they taste less mushy to me. Not that I eat much veggies, I'm a bad eater myself! |

| They throw up yellow bile if they have an empty stomach & when that's all expelled, they'll throw up white foam. My vet also said they'll throw up yellow bile just from anticipating food, so a regular feeding schedule is important for them. As for green beans, I was told not to get the canned ones because it contains sodium. The cooked frozen ones are good, organic being best.
