| Worming question Is it necessary to worm my 2 puppys every month? One of them is 5 months old and the other is 3 months old but I am just not sure how often to worm them.

| My babies dont have worms but the vet told me that it is a good idea to worm them every month. I just dont see the point in it if they dont have worms in the first place.

| ? I wonder where some vets go to school? You never worm a Yorkie at random like this..take a stool sample yearly at the annual check up for your Yorkie. If it there are no worms, no need to worm...now if you have a problem in your soil with hookworms, you will need to address this situation first. You can print out some info about worming and when your vets disagrees you can give it to them...I had to do this some years back with giving Lepto vaccine...took awhile for my "old school" vet to agree with me. |

| I wormed my girls when they were puppies, every two weeks until they were 21 weeks old. Then, I haven't wormed them since. This is what the breeder & two different vets instructed me to do. |

| worming Do whatever you are comfortable doing and what works for your dogs..I have seen too many Yorkies get very ill from routine worming. If a breeder has a history of worms in their dogs, then they might need to keep on top and worm often...but you can rid breeding dogs of worms, treat the soil and not get wormy pups litter after litter. Pets are very different IMO..they need a stool sample taken to the vet at their annual check-up time...or if once a year worries you, do it every 6 months. I worm my pups at 8 weeks. I do a stool check at 10 weeks, and again at 12 wks..I have never had to worm them past the 8 week worming..JMO I have read the commerical breeders forum and breeders like that need big time, regular worming schedules...us liitle guys do not, unless the stool checks are showing worms..again JMO. PS..this does not apply to tapes..they do not show in a stool sample..also regular worms meds do not get rid of tapes..you need medicate for tapes only. Tape worms come from fleas.. |

| Heartgaurd Plus has something that worms dogs and we give that to them monthly. Or is that something different?
