| Parvo Okay, so I am bringing Noah home today and spent last night in a frenzy cleaning and bleaching everything....I bleached my walls, cabinets, floors, baseboards, even my ceiling fans and door knobs. I literally worked my way backwards, making sure not to go back into an area that had already been cleaned and then immediately after, I took a shower and bathed Allie with me (I had her in my bathroom crated in a bleached crate, then immediately bleached it again). Noah will be getting a bath the minute we walk in the door and my car will be bleached again. How do I keep this stuff out of my house??? I have no control over what people touch or get on their clothes, and even if I implement a shoes off before you come in the house rule, it still won't clean it off their clothes or body, then they sit on my couch and then the dogs are up there and the whole dang cycle starts again.... short of installing a shower at my door or requiring people to wear hazmat suits, I don't know what else to do. |

Besides from tearing your house down and re-building once you have parvo it will hang around for a long time. It can stay in the yard for 10 years not to mention what other people and animals will bring over so it never goes away. Getting it out of the house is a little easier but it can still be brought in. Now that he has already had it he should not get it again. Only pets that have not been properly vaccinated are at risk of getting it. In the future any NEW pet that you get you will want them to have 3 full sets of shots before they come to your house. I also would let anyone know that has new puppies and if they come over that you have had it in the past. I am not sure giving Noah a bath right now is a good thing. With him being sick you don't want him to get cold and get sick again. Your girl should be fine otherwise she would already show signs. So your dogs are safe right now only ones that have not been properly vaccinated and the old with decreased immunity are at great risk. I have never seen a dog get parvo twice.

| I agree about the bath-maybe just wipe him down with a clorox clean up and then rewipe him with a damp rag. Vet said she's never seen a dog get it twice either but it has happened. Allie tested negative for it but I still worry. He was in my house for 3 weeks and never showed any signs. (they dont go outside, so it had to have been brought into the house). Allie has had more shots than Noah though so I am hoping her immunity is built up, I just know he will shed the virus for the next few weeks so even separating them, she's still at risk from him being in the house. |

| So happy to hear Noah can come home! I'm sure your vet will go over some things with you. Here's a link to a care sheet on parvo from a vet's office, just in case. Canine Parvovirus

| He didn't get to come home yet. His blood sugar dropped so they increased his glucose and are keeping him a little longer. He looks so sad and tiny. Poor baby!! |

| They think he may be septic so they're giving a different antibiotic in hopes it will beat out any infection. He spiked a fever and his blood sugar just won't stabilize. Please pray my little guy makes it! I am sitting at the vet with him in my lap just loving him and Talking to him. |

| Saying some prayers for your baby. Hang in there...have faith and remain calm with him and let him know how much you adore him.

| Praying Noah will be home soon and he will be healthy. I had a dog about 30 years ago that got Parvo, she stayed in the hospital for 10 days but she made a full recovery and lived to be 14 years old.
