| /ear infections after grooming Joey is 2yrs old and has gone to the same groomers. Every time he goes he ends up with ear infections and/or blisters and bumps/rash that he scratches till bleeding. We will start a pill that makes him feel yucky. When he is cleared up it is time for him to go back. I have spoken to the owner of the groomers and they only use hypoallergenic, yukka-based shampoos. Everything is natural. no purfumes or anything is used. He just went last Thursday and sure enough he has a huge seeping sore on his belly a couple small pimple like bumps on his belly but all of his paws are swollen, red and he is licking them constantly. He immediately pulls away as soon as you try to touch any of his paws. I am at a total loss as to what could be happening at the groomers. They do a hydro-bath but dont use any cleaners. The groomer is the only common denominator in these reactions. I refuse to take him again and will have to figure out something else. Could there be something with the clippers or oil used to lube the clippers that is causing this? Anyone have a similar experience or have any thoughts? He wont walk much so I bring his food and water to him and he is still eating, drinking, peeing and pooping. He is just so uncomfortable and stressed which stresses momma out too I dont know how to help him. Thanks for any thoughts, comments, suggestions and prayers for my little Joey. Nikki |

| I am sorry your little Joey is suffering these problems. Definitely do not take him back to this groomer. Have you had him evaluated by your vet for these problems? What kind of pill are you giving him and was it prescribed by the vet? There are so many possibilities what could be wrong. Do you bathe him at home in between groomings? The shampoo and other hair products used at the groomer could be contributing to his problems, but it sounds like something else is going on and needs to be looked at by a qualified doctor.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Hypo allergenic doesn't equal no allergies, just less likely. You can still be allergic to natural products, too. I found several references to people having atopic reactions (skin allergies) to yucca plants, so it's possible that your little guy is, too. A veterinary dermatologist referral would be a good idea. It's also possible that he is sensitive to the cleaning products they use on the equipment. ETA: This site says that Yucca is toxic to dogs. Not sure how reliable it is, but it's worth looking in to. http://www.dog-first-aid-101.com/tox...en-plants.html

| Definitely needs a vet if he has not been to one. I was just at my vet the other day and she commented about how good my pups ears always look....asked me who my groomer is. A good groomer will keep a pup's ears in great shape!
