| Jack swallowed a toy eye !! Advice please. Today Jack was playing with his fav' cuddly toy and he pulled out a small one of those push in eyes with his teeth, at first he played with the eye by throwing it around the room and chasing it as it rolled about which was quite funny and when I asked him to 'drop' the eye he would do into my hand, but this time he swallowed the eye and i paniced a bit. My fella says the eye will pass through Jack's system so not to worry about it. Yes i'm daft for letting Jack play with it in the first place but i thought it was a harmless bit of fun. The plastic eye has no sharp edges and is only about 10mm round, any thoughts would be welcome. Margaret. |

| If it doesn't have any sharp edges and it's round, it will probably pass thru without any problems. If Jack throws up or gets diahrea, then I would go to the vet. Good Luck!! |

| Do you have a local vet you could call and run it by just over the phone? I'm not sure how large a yorkie's intestines are so that the object would not become lodged. Maybe someone else on this site knows size of intestinal tract. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I agree, I think having a good phone relationship with your vet is vital. They can give you tips on what to feed, such as adding a little pumpkin to the diet to help pass the foreign object. Also, they can tell you what are the danger symptoms to look for, and tell you the closest emergency room should your dog become sick over the weekend. I would put all poops in a little plastic bag, and squish the poop until I found the eye, it will probably take at least 24 hours, but could take as long as 4 days. You'll feel lots better once you find the eye, but call your vet, just to be safe.

| I would call your vets for and ask what you need to do. My Brody got into the trash and ate chicken bones called the vet and they said to give him brown rice so he would be able to pass it without hurting his intestines. Good luck

| Glad it came out ok, I thought it would. My Meika has swallowed many toy eyes and it does look funny when they come out. One of the funniest threads ever on Yorkie Talk is about weird things our dogs pooped out. I will look for that on my other computer and post, it is hilarious. Some of the weird things my girls have passed are Barbie shoes, glitter confetti, and scrunched up Kleenex I thought was worms.
