| pedialyte or pepto--how to administer it? How should I get spike to drink pepto or pedialyte?? Should I use a plastic syringe that the vet gave me once for oral liquid meds?? Has anyone given a 6 pound yorkie pepto before??? How much for his size?? I guess I will call dr. Jay, but i was just curious if anyone had to do this before?? thanks, sherry |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We have given Magic pepto before for her stomach....we always used the syringe to give it to her!! It was the easiest way to get her to take it all...I am not sure how much we used to give her, it has been a while, but I know that it alway worked great for her!! I would call your vet to make sure you are giving him the right amount...

| pepto Thank you soooooo much for your reply. Since I last threaded, I ran to Walmart to get Pedialyte, plain & mixed berry yogurt, and some various turkey, chicken, and rice baby food/jars. By the time I returned in just 20 minutes, my husband boiled chicken and rice soaked in chicken broth and got spike to eat a little. His brother, Rocky, 4 pounds just loved it and set great example for his big brother to try some!!!! I also can get spike and rocky to lick water out of the lid......you know, those bottled waters you can buy by the case? So i opened a bottle, poured a TBSP pedialyte in lid and spike drank pedialtye straight from lid. (of course his brother did too) It's been 10 min now, so we will see how it stays down. Spike usually feels better after 6 hours or so from when he gets up and can usually begin lite eating--like he's doing now. Talk to you later. Thanks again!!! Sherry |

| Sherry, I hope your little ones are feeling better. Usually boil chicken and rice does the trick. I found this info : Pepto-Bismol- 1/4 teaspoonful per ten pounds of body weight every 6-8 hours. Please keep us posted. |
