| Max my new rescue is vomiting I got a rescue last night. his name is Max. He was doing good all day, now he is vomiting. He vomited everything he ate and keeps vomiting mucus and then has the dry heaves. Is there anything I can give him to settle his belly. He is acting okay but keeps vomiting and has been for the last 20 minutes. I will call the emergency vet if this does not stop real soon. any ideas on any home remedies to settle his belly?

| Don't give him anything to eat or drink for about 4-6 hours. Then, bland diet (chicken and rice) and very small amount of water. See if he keeps this down. Then, 30-60 minutes later, offer a little bit more of each, and gradually increase the amounts each time. I'd have my vet check him out anyway.... mucous doesn't sound right.

| I definitely agree with holding food and water...the belly doesnt get better with something being put into it. Try giving him some pedialyte. that will keep him hydrated . I would contact the vet...mucous sometimes IBS.Hope this helps you and your baby.....................Boops mom |

| We generally have this with any new foster we bring into the house. It seems that the new environment can add a LOT of stress to them. Last year, we had a foster for about a month, and when we brought up all the Christmas stuff and rearranged things she got diarrhea really bad. The vet said that it was most likely due to all the rearrangement of everything stressed her, so we crated her while we moved the rest of the stuff and then let her out and she was fine. If it seems to go on past a day, then I would definitely recommend a trip to the vet.

| Thank you for all the info. That poor baby vomited from 9:30 pm until 2am then the poops set in and that continued until 9 am this morning. Poor Baby. I called the Emergency vet they said just watch him. That it was more than likely from a combo of new food, new place and treats. We went to the vet today. She said Gastritis (SPELLING) He was so much better today. Thanks again. Max goes to his new home Friday.
