| Worried...Need Answers! We have a yorkie puppy, Charlie. He is 13 weeks old. He has been doing great!! But, this morning, he was sitting under the table while I was working and I heard a sound which I thought was diarrhea, but he was just passing gas. (This has been going on for about 2 hours.) Then, he went over into the living room and threw up a little. It was just liquid. He has been eating this morning. He is resting and really doesn't seem lethargic, but I am concerned. I know these tiny babies can get really sick so quickly. (He is about 2 lbs.) He is responding when we talk to him and changing positions like he normally does. Any suggestions. He came to us from the breeder on Eukanuba. We were planning to switch him over to Artemis fresh mix for small breed puppies. We started adding it slowly, but as soon as we added it....he started picking it out and not eating his other food. He had one kind of wet bowel movement after that first day, but not since. Could it be his food? The only thing I am aware of that he ate unusual was a piece of candy corn. I dropped it yesterday and he got to it before I could grab it. (he's really fast). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to freak out for no reason, but I want to make sure he is OK. What should I look for? Is there anything I should get him? or give him? |

| It could be the food. I would just keep an eye on him for now. If he gets diahrea you will need to take him to the vet. You could give him a little plain yogurt it helps with digestion

| I agree, could be the food. As Chachi said, get him to a vet if he develops diarrhea.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yeah the candy corn could cause some problems, but they should be short term. I think it's unwise to switch foods too early, if he was doing well on the Eukanuba, I'd stay with that, until he's older. At 13 weeks, food switches are harder on them then any supposed benefits of a new food. You are right to switch slowly though. The first year, they will eat anything that hits the floor even before you know you dropped it!

| I agree to hold off on the food switch. Yes, there are definitely better foods than Eukanuba but if he has been doing well on it, growing and thriving; I would probably leave well enough alone at his young age. Especially if he has a little sensitive tummy. You have plenty of time to get him onto a different food as he matures a little bit.
