| Yorkies can definitely be very picky. I have finally found one that everyone likes...Natural balance. It's been so much trial and error though. Have you tried wetting it a little to see if he just likes it softer? I wish I had more advice for you.

| yes, yorkies can be the pickiest eaters!!! my 5 month old yorkie pixie loves blue buffalo and is doing very well on it! if you look on here under yorkie health / diet in the forums, there is some info on how to get free samples of high quality dog foods. that way you dont have to spend an arm and a leg finding one he will eat. if all else should fail it would be good to try some boiled chicken or lean hamburger. (make sure not to season it) better than eating nothing because these little ones can become hypoglycemic if they dont eat! not a bad idea to have nutrical on hand if that happens! best of luck & congrats on your new puppy!

| WHy can't it have a little bit of wet food mixed? Been doing with our Yourkie for 13+ years...been doing it with every dog we have had for many years. It is not true that it is bad for their teeth. |

| I don't think it tastes good to him. I give mine Natural Balance Ultra Premium Small Bites (chicken & rice). I sometimes mix in some of the Blue Buffalo Chicken (I think) and vegetable formula. She likes both. They are both very small bites so it isn't hard to eat. If you change food, do it slowly by mixing any new food into the old gradually over a period of time so he won't get sick. I also bake chicken breasts and feed her some of that with her dry. As a snack, I give her some Blue Buffalo chicken and vegetable canned. She is crazy about it all.

| We started our yorkie on Hills Science diet which our breeder recommend that we put some warm water over so the pellets so they get softer and it's also good way for them to get water into there system if they not drinking a lot. Then when our yorkie was 4 months old we moved and could no longer get Hills so we went onto Royal Canine which has also been very good. Our yorkie is not mad about eating her pellets dry and the vets also recommend to wet the pellets when they are little. Our little girl is spoilt rotten and will have a few pellets as a snack only if she is really hungery, but i steam a small chicken breast (no skin or bones ) for her now that she is older and her tummy can take it. She loves her chicken. Hope that helps you. Let us know how it goes. |

| Hi there and welcome to our "yorkie world"! I had the same problem with Sassafras when she was that age! It can be VERY frustrating trying to find a healthy food that tastes good too! When Sass was about 4 months my other dog was having huge food allergy issues and then came the BIG dog food recall!! What a nightmare! I started giving them "homemade dogfood"...cooked chicken breasts w/ rice and a few peas. I kept them on this for quite a while until I felt safe with commercial food again. Also I gave them nutri-vitamins (comes in a tube) to make sure they were getting their vitamins. When I went back to dogfood I had to just keep getting samples of grain-free food til I found one they BOTH could eat. Ended up on EVO small bites which they have been eating for 2+ years with absolutely no problems. My vet asks me what they eat cuz they are SOOO healthy! Hope this helps dear.
