| ![]() We are at emergency vet. She has no fever. Is bleeding bright red blood. She pooped normally at 3 pm. At 8:45 pm, she had bloody poop, and a lot of blood!!! She is having x-rays and blood panel now. She has been on Blue Buffalo for small breeds. This wasn't on the recall. I kept feeding it to her. Stupid me. Not sure what is going on!! Ever so often she has been having poops that appear snotty but not all the time. She likes to eat sticks, acorns and pecans and whatever else she can outrun me with! Please pray for her.

| ![]() Thank you for your prayers. We just got home with Boop. The x-rays were all very normal. The blood panel was all within range and normal. It showed no evidence of pancreatitis. When we arrived at the ER, the vet asked if she could have gotten into any rat poison or any other type of poisonous item. As far as I know, she has not, other than the outside things I listed in the 1st post. She also asked if she had been around any dogs that haven't been vaccinated. She gave her an injection for nausea called Cerenia; Some anti-diarrhea med called Diarsanyl Oral Paste; Immodiam AD 2 mg. tabs; and Metronidazole for infection. The only thing she vet could see during her exam was that she had a LOT more bacteria in her poop than was normal. I am still worried about her because something has caused this. But what? She said if Boop started vomiting to bring her back in immediately so they could hook her up to IVs. She didn't appear badly dehydrated, but recommended getting some Pedialyte. If anyone has any ideas, I sure would appreciate hearing them. Thanks.

| ![]() Oh gosh...poor Betty Boop! I will pray that she recover quickly from this illness. Poor baby. Libby got terribly sick a while back, with pooping blood, but she was also vomiting. I was so scared I was going to lose her that time, as she was so deathly ill, and had a high fever, but thank the Lord, she pulled through. I don't have any advice except to keep a close eye on her and if she seems to get worse, get her back to the vet. Please keep us updated!

I forgot to mention that she went from 5.5 lbs to 5 lbs., unless the scales didn't register the same at each office. I was really scared when I saw blood all over her rear-end. I'll call her regular vet early Monday morning and see if he wants to see her. Of course, if she continues to get worse, I'll have that bloody little butt back at the ER, PRONTO.

| ![]() I did forget to mention that I sent my husband on a mission to get the Imodium AD after we left the ER. When he got home, he handed me a green piece of paper. It was a TICKET for a rolling stop at a stop sign!! He was in his company van! ![]() ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Are you sure she did not get into anything? Is she otherwise feeling ok - playing etc? Did they tell you to feed anything bland for now to let the digestive tract calm down? I wonder if she passed something in an earlier poop that caused the bleeding.

I still have her prior poop on her pee pad that I can look at tomorrow morning. Glad you mentioned that. Not sure about that, but I know we can take defensive driving courses to delete the ticket (still have to pay the fine, though). I'll check on what you've mentioned. Thanks.

| ![]() Problems like this can have so many causes. I recently went through the same thing with 4 of my dogs....bright red bloody poop and, in one case, bloody vomit. It seem to happen to one dog one day and then another a couple of days later. In my case, the cause was so simple that I'm embarrassed to say. But if it helps anyone, here goes. My wife had begun helping me with feeding the dogs. In the evening, we feed them dry with a little canned and warm water mixed in. She had been stacking the dishes as she carried them. What was happening was that the bottom of one dish was touching the food in the one below it. My habit was to wash out the dishes daily, but not the undersides particularly. So, even though the dish was clean, there was obviously bacteria from the food that had stuck to the bottom of the dish from earlier. So, with the next feeding that bacteria was introduced into the food by stacking the dishes. The result was bloody poop. Once it dawned on me what was happening, I cleaned all the dishes thoroughly and had my wife quit stacking the dishes. I haven't had a problem since.
