Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Poppy has just been sick... Okay so Im a little worried because Poppy has just been sick. She had been in her pen alone for about an hour before I came up to bed, I noticed she must have been kicking at her water bowl again because it was empty.. so I filled it up with fresh water. She had a big drink then started to attack her pee pad, then she was sick. It was mainly clear with a little bit of brown in which looked like it had been from her food. She is acting normally and dosnt seem ill in any way. Do you think this is something to be worried about? or do you think she gulped down too much water too quickly and that is the reason she was sick? Im staying up late to keep an eye on her, im scared to go to sleep! Please tell me im over reacting.

| It sounds like maybe she drank too much water. Louis had pancreatitis over the summer, and you could definetly tell he was sick. He was throwing up everywhere and you could tell just by looking at him that he was sick. He would be laying down and then he would just get up and move to a different spot and try to lay down again. He was very restless and couldn't get comfortable because his belly was hurting. If she continues to throw up, I would definetly take her into the vet. Louis lost almost a pound just for being sick. Hopefully it is nothing. Please keep up updated on how she is doing.

| I forgot to add, when Louis threw up, it was yellow. The color you described sounds like a little food mixed with the water she just drank.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | If she likes to dump her water bowl you might try one of those bottles they sell for watering ferrets and other small animals. It would also slow down her gulping water as well as keep her from getting her face all wet when she drinks. |

| I think it was just the water. Sometimes they'll burp and up it comes! Hope she'll be fine. Let us know tomorrow how she did through the night.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | She did fine through the night and hasnt thrown up since. She attacked her pee pad this morning again then starting to make a hacking sound, I figured some of the pad was stuck in her throut so I made her have a drink and then she was fine. I think im going to have to get one of those ferret bottles untill she stops kicking water. I worry that the second I leave she will kick it about then be left with nothing to drink. I will try and get one at the weekend, thanks for the tip Boopster!

| If it were my baby...............I would call the vet and let them know whats going on. How is her stool? Yorkies tend to get IBD.Does she wear a collar? Their tiny tracheas are so sensitive they can get collapsed tracheas very easily....My guy wears a harness only............I agree with the water bottle......please keep us posted...........Give her a hug for us ok?.............Boops MOM |

She only threw up the once, it was mainly water with a litter bit of powdery looking brown stuff in which I assume was from her kibble. Also her stools are normal. She only wears a collar when we go outside but the only reason she wears it is because it has her ID tag attached. I DO NOT attach her lead to her collar, I always walk her with a harness on. Thank you for your concern, I will be buying a water bottle at the weekend.

| please check with the vet; but i think it will be best if you feed a bland diet for a week to rest her stomach. boiled chicken and rice or ground turkey and oatmeal is more soothing. also if you want to feed kibble add some digestive enzymes and probiotics to help digest the food and feed less more often. also feeding wet food is easier to digest; so you might want to do that for a while until she's better. good luck

| LOL they are like babies people keep telling me, a baby throws up for the smallest reason which 9 out of 10 times its nothing., doesnt stop you worrying about them tho eh! You did a fab job staying up with her and making sure she is ok. I dont think there is any need to rush her to the vet if she has only been sick the once and is ok now. Glad she is ok i paniced when i seen this post. Hope everything is ok with you and Poppykins xxxx
