| Choking Gagging Sounds My 2 year old female Silky Yorkie makes choking and gagging noises as if she has something caught in her throat. It seems to happen most when she is excited especially when I get home. It is really scary especially since she seems to be doing it longer lately. She is in excellent physical condition as we run and walk at least 1 hour every morning. She does not have this condition during or after we exercise but it seems to be related to her excitement. My vet thinks it is reverse sneezing but it seems to be more than that plus the sound and the way she tries to clear something out of her breathing tube doesn't match the description of reverse sneezing. I'd appreciate any comments from the Yorkie community. Thanks! |

| If this were happening to my pup, I would try to get a video of it to share with your vet. It is really difficult to do a good diagnosis when they don't actually see the dog have an "episode."

| It does sound like a reverse sneeze. When she does it, you can stop it by gently rubbing her throat....or by putting your fingers over her nostrils.
