| Theophylline...anyone use it for their baby? I did a search for this drug on yt, but wasn't able to pull up aything. If you have any experience with it or knowledge about it, please let me know. I would be interested in knowing the weight of your baby, dosage your baby takes, and whether or not there was a reaction to it. Thank you sooo much!!

| Cupid takes this for his trachea. He is on 2.5 ml 2xs a day. He weighs 4lbs. I think it makes him active. So I give one dose in the am and the second at 3pm so he is all settled down for bedtime. I feel it has helped open his airways and help him breathe along with the trachea cupid also has lung damage so this medication is suppose to help open the air flow in the part of his lungs that is functioning. Cupid has only been on this medication for a month.....my vet had to call and order it from a med place for pets. I guess you can also get it at CVS but my CVS could not get it for at least 2 months....

| It has a lot of bad side effects. 40 years ago it was the drug of choice for treating humans with Asthma, Bronchitis, etc, but it had too many bad side effects. Pediatricians use to mix it with Robitussion. Never exceed the recommended dose. |

| Marax is one old drug made by Pfizers JB Roerigs division. For Asthma and Bronchitis in Humans. Theophylline and Ephedrin. Many better alternatives out there now. Dr Steve |

| I just bought two pills (Theophylline) for Prince, to see if he can tolerate it. $12.50 for 2!! That's $6.25 per pill!!!! If it works, it'll be worth it. I read online that Marax is the brand name, and Theophylline was the generic form and that they were basically the same. Is that not true???

| Marax lost it's patent long ago. Can't believe they charged you that much for a generic. Theo was one of 2 main ingrediants in Marax, but it was not the best simply die to the heart problems it caused. That is why many mixed it with Robitussin and other such syrups. The other maon drug has pretty much been pulled off all shelves. It was used very heavily in weight loss concoctions. |

| Marax is a drug used for treatment of asthma. It is a combination of theophylline, ephedra, and hydroxyzine. It is no longer being manufactured in the US due to ephedra being removed from production by the FDA. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Just got to say that I can't believe anyone had the nerve to charge you that much for theophylline. 1800petmeds.com has it for 31 cents per pill. Theophylline: Heart Medication Tablet For Dogs & Cats - 1800PetMeds ETA: Scratch that- that's the extended release tabs which should never be split in to separate doses. Doing so can result in an over dose of the medication. I am surprised that CVS didn't have it in stock.

YT 1000 Club Member | Our Pom has been on it for 7 years. She weighs 22lbs. She started off taking one pill every other day they are the 2.5 mg. Then she randomly started having seizures because she got super hyper from the meds. So the vet cut her down to a half tab every 3 days. She still gets super hyper but so far no seizures in the last 2 years. But When she goes in for a check up the do bloodwork to check her kidney function.. Apparently this drug can cause kidney failure.

| i tried them all for my fife and marax worked well for him, but you need to watch the dose if you give to much the heart can start to race, I had it compounded at an equine pharmacy that is the only place that still makes it as it is not banned in the animal world. I can only tell you what worked for fife. The theophylline i always had filled at my vet he was on 3/4 of a 100mg tab he was about 7 pounds, i dont recall what i paid for it but dont recall is being that expensive. |
