| Lexi got knocked out! Yesterday morning we were all lounging around and I told my husband that Lexi probably needed to go out to potty again. He took her out the back door and our large Lab/ Shepard mix came to greet my husband. She has a bad habit of jumping on people and my husband was telling her down but when she dropped down she landed on Lexi! When my husband looked down Lexi looked awful. She was stiff as a board with her neck stuck sideways. It was horrible! He ran her inside yelling to me. I could barely look at her. She looked dead. I ran to get my clothes on. The kids were screaming hysterrical. We got her to the vet nearby in record time. By the time we got her there she looked conscious again. The vet asked me to put her on the floor. She walked around slowly. He said "I think she will be alright" and he took her to the back. He came back about five minutes later and said all her vitals were normal. We left with no test ran and today she is back to her normal self. My husband and I now think she had a seizure from hitting her head. For those of you that do not have a large dog and a yorkie, and are thinking of mixing the two ,they really do not make a great mix. It is very dangerous for your yorkie even if they are great friends, like mine. I really do not know what I am going to do since we love both our dogs. Just do not put yourself in the same boat as us. We are now considering finding a new home for our big dog. |

| Yes, we are so relieved that she is Ok. Although we were prepared to spend $$$$ on her I was a little surprised that the 5 minute listen to her heart appointment cost $50. Considering there were no test run, does that sound high? We live in Texas were things usually are less expensive. |

| I'm glad to hear that Lexi is ok. I very much agree, when you mix large high energy dogs and very small high energy dogs, you have to take extra precuations. We have a Boxer and 3 yorkies. You wouldn't believe how gentle Boo is with the Yorkies. The greatest concern we have is when Boo ccasionally steps on Chizzie's hair Chizzie will go into attack mode and "go after" Boo. Boo is very gentle and kind and just patiently waits for the temper tantrum to pass. |

| I am so glad she is ok, but I surely hope you can find some alternative to giving up your big dog. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OW WOW !! That was scary enough to read.... can't imagine seeing it in person - I would have freaked out too - I'm so glad your Lexi is ok !! I reallly am - that was a close call ... Maybe try training your big dog not to jump like that ? I know you must hate the idea of re-homing him - maybe try some commands so they both can live together and you won't have to worry about Lexi ? |

This is what is so sad. Lexi and "Baily" are best friends and Baily is very gentle with her. Baily has always treated Lexi like one of her puppies. Baily just did not understand that Lexi was underneath her as she was so excited to see my husband. Accidents happen, but they are more likely to happen when one dog outweighs the other one by 65 pounds. I am always afraid that one of "us" will step on Lexi. My 15 year old son wears a size 13 shoe! | |

| I am glad Lexy is ok, why not take your other dog for training so that it will learn not to jump up?

| very scary, indeed. i'm so sorry this happened w/your little one. there was a similar situation w/my best friend and her yorkie. she owns a Husky as well. the 2 were playing when Princess' eye popped-out. there was no saving it. Princess is fine and has no idea her eye is gone. my friend keeps the 2 dogs apart now. |

| How frightening! All of our worst fear with our little dogs! Mari being only 2.2 and our Chihuahua being 13 lb is scary too. They get playing so hard that she screams sometimes he just runs her over. The chihuahua tends to get a little grouchy when he's tired too so that worries me too. I heard they are known for being grouchy. I didn't know that. |
