| Because I have no idea and when I looked on google it came up with ear mites... I'm sure the vet can tell me tonight I'm just worried as I'm due to pick up my new puppy on Saturday and don't want him to catch anything x |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i doubt its ear mites unless your dog has been exposed to other dogs (park, boarding, daycare) with ear mites. its probably just an infection. does it smell? what color is the gunk thats in his ear?

| It does have a bit of a smell, there are very small amounts of black goo in there but not a lot that I can see. He was neutered on Friday, the vet said then his ears were nice and clean, since coming back I have noticed it bothering him. He has his check up tonight so am going to see what the vet says. I hope it can be cleared up quickly. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | If it is ear mites, there is usually some brownish waxy drainage when you clean the ears. The treatment we went through was drops every other night for 14 days. The drops kill the adult mites immediately, but you have to keep killing the newly hatched ones. |

| Cooper had the same symptoms and it was ear mites. The vet automatically assumed it was an allergy because Cooper hadn't been around any other dogs. After putting Cooper on new food we realized that it was not an allergy. We also used ear drops for about 2 weeks which cleared everything up. I was told that once a dog gets ear mites they never can get them again. Is that true?

| Ive just got back from the vets, Max has a small yeast infection in his left ear, she has given me some drops to treat it which also treat mites etc. We're going back in a week for his last last check up since being nuetered so she's going to check his ears out again then. All should be fine |

| I will ask the vet next time I go. I remember her saying she was so glad it's not allergies because once ear mites are treated once, they never come back. Hmm....
