Hello I am Cookie a 1 1/2 yo female with horrible hair mats - what is the best way to get rid of them and the best way to keep them from re-appearing ?

Also my Father Skittles has red bumps all over his stomach and scratches himself till he bleeds - is this an allergic reaction to something and what is the best course of action for us to take with him - i know he is very uncomfortable and we have tried Benadryl with him and it helps some but the problem will not go away.

Poor Skittles - he needs to see a vet asap - this could be pyoderma right now (staph) but can get much worse if he is breaking skin. It could also be other things, but since there are bumps, and it's red - it's likely bacterial, fungal, or parasitic - so you really must get him seen by a vet bc it needs to be treated.

While allergies could be part of the cause, infection could be part of the consequence.

As far as mats - sigh - I hear you on that....you might want to look in the Grooming section for tips.
