| Nuetered, Teeth Pulled... Not Drinking Water! Oliver was nuetered and had 8 teeth pulled on Monday. He refused to eat his dry food- so I have been giving him chicken, rice, and pumpkin. I do mix in a few spoonfuls of broth. He gobbles that right up. However, he has not been drinking hardly any of his water that I can tell. He normally will drink almost an entire bowl of water each day. He is urinating more now than he was the day after. However, he is having less BM's... Is this a side effect of the chicken and rice? I don't know how worried I should be? He is active and playful. His gums look pink and moist. His water intake is worrying me... Is this normal? |

| Yes, that is normal. Dogs who eat homecooked get most or all of their needed moisture from their food. My girl eats homecooked and drinks maybe once every week or two.

| Camden had hernia surgery this week on Tuesday. We have been feeding chicken, rice, pumpkin (once a day) and we are mixing in a touch of green beans & wet food. She also isn't hardly touching her water. I wondered if it was because she was getting more of her moisture from the food. She's never been a huge drinker, but she takes a sip like once a day right now. Camden is still urinating ok too & and has one BM a day for the last two, where she normally has two a day. I don't think after surgery that is unusual. Has he been on pain meds? I think that's maybe been a contributing factor with Camden. We had her on meds for the three days following surgery.

| If they are eating moist food, they will drink less water. Ours had a few teeth pulled duting her cleaning, and we gave her the Wet food for a bit, and she drank less water. As soon as we put some kibble in and decreased the wet, the water consumption increased. No worries. |
