| Barney Update Barney is doing much better this morning. I would say that he is about 50% to 70% better. He is still quiet and tired but out of pain and discomfort for the most part. He did throw up some bile at some point in the night. He did not want his ice cube this morning so I gave him 1 tbsp of water which he wanted. In fact, he wants more and when the others were having breakfast, he was sitting here staring at me like he wanted his. He also barked at the oil delivery and wanted to go see the squirrels from our back porch. I heard from the vet - she had sent out his blood work and got it back (the readings were too high on the fat to get #s in house). The outside lab was able to get readings - I dont know what they were but she said his bloodwork looked very good all things considered. She also concluded that this is probably a mild attack as oppose to severe. So my directions are to try the little bits of water, give him the pepcid and cerenia and if he cannot hold those down - to the hospital. We have to hold off on amoxicillin and metronidazole until he is on some food. Things are looking up so far for Barney but until we're out of the woods, we're still in the woods... Thanks for all the thoughts, help, and support!

| So glad he's on the road to recovery now. We have three Yorkies and my oldest two have each had Pancreatitis twice. Yogi my 6 years old just got over a severe case of this 8 weeks ago. I have all of them on a diet now of browned ground round, that I rinse with hot water to remove any fat residue, then I add cooked brown rice, that I actually "overcook" and carrots. They have all done very well on this. My vet said that this is an adequate diet for them for life. Its a little pain in the rear to have on hand at all times, but I will say I don't ever want to see them go through this again. I really never knew what caused it the first few times, but the last episode, I changed their food because Yogi was gaining weight on the previous one...some of these little guys have really sensitive systems and it doesn't seem to take much to upset their GI tracts. I hope little Barney continues to progress!

| Barney Update Barney is feeling a bit better today. He kept down his 5 small meals of bland chicken and rice (2 tablespoons per meal). Tomorrow morning I am supposed to give him a full meal of chicken and rice. I'm not sure how much to feed him, but I'm thinking of just doubling it for now. I dont want to overfeed him. He is very very tired and depressed but when he sees food he does get a little spring in his step. He came to work with me today and was snoring very loud - it was a little distracting (mostly cuz I wanted to join him!!) Thanks to all - I will keep posting updates - I think we are out of the woods but until he's 100% I'm not taking anything for granted.

| Glad to hear that the little guy is better. Our little female Yorkie has it 2 times, and at around 4 and 6 years or age. The vet suggested Iams Low Residue diet. Since then, she has not had another episode, and she is going to be 13 in a few more months. We mix a little Wet to the dry kibble and she likes it. Also, we give her Iams Low Residue treats. She has never gotten people food.....Some seem to be prone to pancreatitis. It is indeed scary. |

| Barney Update Actually since my last update, we had a bit of a scare. Yesterday, I spent 3 hours at the vet because Barney was just not himself the night before. I figured I'd go for reassurance. Well the news was not good. We got there and clinically he presented a little better - gave the vet a tail wag. His temp was back to normal so things were looking good. Until we did the blood work. Blood work came out worse. WBCs were normal, so that was good, but all the enzymes were off and Amylase was 3700 -- worse than Saturday. Barney started to bruise at the site of the blood draw so vet was very worried - thought could be something more, like the big C. So we did an xray to rule out a mass. The xray came back clear - some scatter near pancreas but to be expected. Three vets examined the blood, the dog, and the films. So the big C is ruled out for now. Barney is eating well - up to 1 cup of chicken and rice a day - no vomiting and is a little more interested in household activities (kicked T's a$$ over a tennis ball - Go Barney!!). He is still very very tired. We are guarded over the prognosis at this point - more blood work to be done Monday. Vet concluded blood work could be worse because Barney was seen immediately at onset whereas most owners let the dog go a day or so then see the vet. I'm too tired and drained to think more about it. I was in touch with Ellie May over the bruising issue - may not be due to pancreatitis but I am watching him closely.

| Thank you LadyJane. He seems to be resting peacefully and is not showing any discomfort. He's just tired. This morning, he freaked me out again when he was hiding under the bed and would not come out. I think he is really milking this sick thing - he is very smart and likes to play games with us as is and he is really liking all this attention!
