| My Boy has something stuck in his throat! Hi everyone, I am worried about my 6 month old puppy named Rascal. He threw up some foam this morning and ever since he has been trying to work something out of his throat. I looked in there and could not see anything and I know he likes to chew on a blade of grass when there is one on the entry rug by our door. I also have really long hair and was thinking maybe it could be a hair in his throat. He has eaten for me but he will then really work for a while to get that out of his throat again after a meal. Same thing after he drinks water. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I don't know if I should make him vomit or just leave it be until the vet opens up tomarrow. I will check back in every 10 minutes or so in case you guys have any suggestions on what to do. Thanks....

| This is not a cure, but does he get c ar sick? If so take him for a ride he might bring it up that way. Otherwise off to the vet for sure. I had one that brought up a large piece of treat he swolled whole, on the way to the vet he brought it up. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry your baby is having a problem. Have you tried giving him wet food or a piece of soggy bread to help clear his throat? If he keeps it up I would take him in. Hope he feels better soon.

| He probably would get sick in the car, he normally does anyway. I think the soggy bread sounds good too. I am going to try that right now. I will certainly call the vet first thing if he is still bothered. Thank You so much for those reply's, when you are worried, you can't always think clearly of what you need to try, it helps to have some support!

| I see he's only 6 months, but if he has long facial furnishings, is it possible a piece of his hair has gotten caught in his mouth and that's what is choking him? Strange as this sounds, it happened to my oldest yorkie when he had a full coat and long face/mouth hair. Guess it got mixed in with either his food or water and he couldn't get it out by himself. Hope your boy is ok now. |

| Thanks for asking. I looked into his mouth and could not see anything like his own hair, but like I said before, I have hair that is more than a foot long and it is possible it could be that. I talked to my vet this morning and the receptionist said the vet was out for the week but I should give him a little ball of peanut butter to help move things along if that is the problem. I have not seen him try to work on it but I am not sure if he is done trying. I think he is better, but maybe not completely cured yet. I know another vet in this area who is realy good, if my little boy doesn't stop it completely then I will talk to the other vet. Thankfully he is not afraid to eat right now. I will keep you guys posted, again, thanks for asking.

| If he is eating and drinking that may be the best sign... Are you sure he was not just "honking" like many yorkies do? Like a reverse sneezing ... people call it different names... yorkies honk like pigs a lot of times... XOXO

| *****UPDATE****** Rascal just threw up again and with that came a sewing needle and thread still attatched to it! Both me and my mother sew, and she watched him for me last weekend. I will call my vet tomarrow and see if he will need some antibiotics. Thank you all for the suggestions. I hope he recovers with no other problems.

| I know, we are so lucky he was able to work that back up without any problems. Right now I am going to watch him for blood in his urine or poo and check his temp and in the morning I will call the vet. We are very lucky, I still don't know how he got that up without getting caught or poked . I am so thankful right now.
