| what should I give her? milu has been having diarrhea the last few days and she puked this morning. she has an appt. to see the vet tmw. i started giving her can pumpkin, yogurt, and pedialyte yesterday, and her poop this morning was firm. but then had diarrhea again later. (i think the pumpkin is working, making her poop firm) what should i be feeding her food wise? and how much can pumpkin, yogurt and pedialyte am i supposed to be feeding her? if she doesn't have an appetite, is it better for her to not eat and fast, or should i entice her to eat something. milu is 15 months old and 3.2 lbs. thank you.

| Any chance the vet can give you a suggestion via phone, to tide your baby over until the appointment tomorrow? It's tough now that it is both diarrhea and vomitting. I am not an expert by any means, but one use of pumpkin is to relieve constipation....which is the opposite of your baby's issues! Anyhow, looks like her poop is back to nice firmness. I heard pumpkin can have many uses, so maybe it can also work to improve firmness? Pedialyte is probably the most important part of the equation, whether she is hungry or not. If she can keep chicken and rice down as other poster suggested, that is great too. |

| Sometimes fasting helps but not always and you have to be sure that she doesn't go hypoglycemia. Giving chicken and rice or potato or yogurt, etc. is fine. Pumpkin is fine but sometimes all it does is cover up symptoms. It really isn't my favorite. This has been going on for a long time, so if the pumpkin is helping, I'd go ahead and give it until the vet can see her.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Poor Milu . I'd feed either just potato or chicken/potato - and give yogurt if she does okay on dairy. Con't the pumpkin if it's working for her, for now. Has she been around any standing water (giardia?)? If you can, put a stool sample in a baggy for the vet, so they can do a fecal.

| Yes every blue moon pnut will get diarrhea too! I will just give him little amounts of pedalight and some chicken and rice thru the day, and if he isnt better the next day I take him to the vet... But she is young so it might be a little more going on with her..Best thing would be to get her in the vet asap =) good luck hope all goes well!!

| I give chicken and rice. I've never tried the pumpkin though, but I think I might.

| the vet checked milu's poop sample and didn't find anything abnormal. so we don't know what happened and why milu had diarrhea. but since there was nothing found in her poop, the vet decided that we are not going to give milu anything (medication) i am going to continue giving milu pumpkin just to make sure she doesn't have anymore diarrhea. i will try to ease off on the pumpkin in a couple of days i think. thank you everyone for giving me advice. i was very concerned but i feel better now knowing that there is no bacteria or anything in her poop.

| How is she doing? In my opinion, if you stop the pumpkin and she is still having an issue, something should be given because her body isn't fighting the problem. After a few days of loose stool with no diagnosis, I don't see a problem with giving something like Metronidazole for a few days to clear things up.

Oh and pumpkin can have the opposite affect and cause runny stool. It can be difficult to regulate with it.
