| hip dysplasia I have a 7 month old male yorkie who was just diagnosed with hip dysplasia. They said it would require surgery to remove the femoral head. They also said that this would just heal and form a false socket on its own. He just started limping last week and its getting worse every day. I am thinking about getting a second opinion before I take him in for the surgery. Does anyone know anything about this condition? I dont know what to do. |

But, on another note, was this a yorkie of your breeding or a yorkie that you obtained from a breeder. If it was a yorkie that you obtained from a breeder, do you have a guarantee? This is a genetic defect. Notify your breeder, she must not breed this puppy's dam and sire again. They should be spayed/ nuetered. Your breeder is responsible for assisting you in correcting this lil guys hip.

| I think I am for sure going to take him to a specialist for a 2nd opinion. I priced the surgery and the board certified surgeon is 500 dollars more than a regualr vet, but I think I will feel better knowing that a orthopedic surgeon is going to work on him. I called the lady I bought him from and she said she doesn't know of any other puppies from her previous litters that have had this proble. Her dogs are both fixed now so she is not going to have any more. Do you know anyone that has had to have this surgery? |
