My little guy (11 weeks) has diarrhea and cried all night.We took him to the 24 hour vet yesterday and they gave him some fluids and antibotics as well as metronzole to take home. She felt the pain was from gas but because he is so small 1.2lbs she felt she couldn't give him anything for the gas or cramps. She told me to continue to feed him every two hours. This was around 4 in the afternoon. He was up all night long so I called back and they said since he is eating there is nothing to worry about and try some chichen baby food. Well today he doesn't seem much better--not playing just tries to sleep and can't. He eats fine and has had 3 soft stools today so far. So my daughter took him back to the 24 hr vet and I'm waiting to hear. He had coccida and was on albon for 10 days and finished his last dose thursday night. Also on thur I gave him his heartguard. He is eating puppy Innova both soft and hard that I soak. I weaned him very slowly off his old food (over a 10 day period) so I don't think that is the problem unless the food just doesn't agree with him. Could it be the coccida or maybe the heartguard causing this stomach upset? I sent some stool to be retested but they said it might be too soon since he finished his medicine to get a correct result. I never had a puppy cry like this it breaks my heart. Appreciate any advice.Thank you

did they do a blood panel as my concern is pancreatitis if that painful? Did he get any high fatty foods ? Heartguard i am not that familiar with but does have ivermectin in it is it safe to give to that small size pup? So sorry

They just got back from the vet and they did do a blood panel. I'm sad to say that they found his BUN to be 46 and his creatinine to be 2.2. Both high. The bun should be no higher than 26 and the creatinine shouldn't be no higher than 1.2. The vet said that he could be dehydrated or he could have kidney problems. I'm really worried and tomorrow I'll have to bring a urine test and then we'll know more. Lets hope for the best.

I was so sad to read your post today. Knowing what you are going through with Brody, it would be unfathomable to have to go through this with the little one. I am so sorry. I hope they can figure it out and get him on the road to recovery.

It just can't be possible- Can it? They both have different parents. I'm sick to my stomach and the sad part is my baby won't stop crying. He cries non stop and they don't know why. Although the vet said kidney failure can cause pain. Tomorrow can't come soon enough!

Well Skyler is home from the hospital and resting well. They repeated the kidney function test and they were normal. They gave him a lot of test and everything was fine. Still waiting for the stool check on coccida and worms. They aren't sure what happened but it could be from the heartguard or the Innova I was giving him.It might be too rich for him. So he is on a special diet for now and I will have to figure out what to put him on once he feels a little better. Thanks for all your help.
