| Broken Claw Hi! My little Max is suffering from a broken claw, which is actually turned sideways. I took him to the vet, and they clipped it as short as they could go (torturous experience for him since he didn't want ANYONE touching the toenail) and his actual toe is fine, its just the claw casing that is cracked. So, my question is, he is constantly licking that foot, is there any kind of pain killer that anyone has tried to use to stop the probable itchyness/pain possibly? Note, he isn't bleeding and he still runs around like crazy, but I think every once in a while he bangs it, and then it hurts. I was thinking of trying Baby Anbesol... since its supposed to stop the pain of teething in babies.. might work..but I need to research more into the effects on dogs. (He's 6 years old). Thanks!!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry to hear about Max's little claw. I would ask the vet if there is anything you can safely give him to help. I know it must be painful. Maybe a little wrap on it so that he is not putting pressure right on the sore spot? Hope he feels better soon.

| :) Thanks Patti, I'm going to bring him to work tomorrow, so he'll at least be happy about that!

| Conclusion Hi! Just wanted to let everyone know, who may have been wondering, that Max is fine. He finally broke the end of the claw off that was loose, and he's running around enjoying life as usual. He knew what he was doing all along! I would recommend people see the vet anyway if this happens to their dog since it would have been difficult for me to clip the broken part of the claw off myself... which was all that was required in this case.
