| Pancreitis I know i did not spell this right..but i was wondering if anyone knows how they might get this.My baby did not feel good monday and tuesday when i got home work about 2 pm there was blood all over my house.he was pooping pure blood. scared me so bad i could barely drive to get him to the vet. they done test, and said it was pancreitis and wanted to know what i have fed him.he only gets dog food and treats and occasionally fruit or veggies.I know all the things they cant have and am very careful not to let him have them. he also ask if he may have got into some of my meds.and i dont take any so that could not be it either. but he is doing alot better now and i want to prevent this from happening again. so if you have any other info on this would be grateful to know. |

| Yorkies are prone to pancreatitis. Fatty foods are usually what trigger an attack. Here is some information for you: Pancreatitis (Inflammation) in Dogs Pancreatitis In Dogs Articles - Canine Pancreatitis Guide - Treatment For Pancreatitis In Dogs I am so glad he is doing better. Pancreatitis can be very serious, even fatal. |

| my baby as it too. She never had the blood but she throw up alot. she is going in for a scope to test her for IBS. Glad you baby is better!! It is very painful for them. i feel soo bad for Sophie when she has a bad day. And she get nothing but her dog food. Not even treats at this point. it is my understanding that they don't really know what causes it. My vet speicalist says it is hard to treat as they don't really have any meds for it. They just stop anything by mouth for 24-48 hrs. |

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Oh just seeing this and so happy to hear that Katie is coming home. Izzy was diagnosed with pancreatitis last November and she had another episode in April. She is strictly on a low fat (8% or less) diet - no treats except Cheerios once in a while. It's scary and hope that she does not get it again. I also have her on supplements to help her out - to get the nutrients she needs while being on the Science Diet W/D. Keep us posted on your baby.

| Glad your baby is doing better...This is such a terrrible diagnosis the amount of episodes can be controlled w/ diet. When my last YORKIE had it, my vet ALSO said it could be cause by dogs eating "decomposing" tissue, (meaning dead animals) So check your yard for dead birds and such.....Our lil ones can get in the worst trouble when were not around...
