| If she is not getting enough sugar you can take her to the vet and they can give her a shot that will boost her levels up higher then giving her suppliments. You will still probably need to keep giving her sugar suppliments after she gets the shot though to keep her levels up for a while till she can get that stabalized on her own. Expecially when the are young they usually need a little help with sugar but most i have seen will grow out of that.. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | How old is she, do you have Karo Syrup on hand? Corn syrup enters the blood stream faster, and you put a little on the roof of her mouth. Maple syrup or honey works in a pinch. Many people keep Nutri-cal on hand to treat low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia. She should recover with 20 minutes, and food should be offered. If possible, I would take her to the vet. Toy Breed Hypoglycemia

| Not to scare you but you need to get her to the vet like now. My little female yorkie could not stand up either and it wasnt her sugar, but we treated her like it was because we didnt know then we rushed her to the ER vets. But we lost her please take your baby in to get checked. |

| Oh, I hope this baby is okay...if you haven't already taken her to a vet...and I hope you have. But on the way to the vets, keep rubbing syrup on the roof of her mouth and tongue...I know it gets messy, but it'll wash off. Update us when you can.

| my 5 year old shih tzu, suddenly fell to floor 2 times. found out she had cancer. she was gone from me. we never suspected anything. my 11 year old maltese ran all round like a young pupppy her whole life. she felll down a few times. i was told she was ill, and i was going to lose her any day, or a few weeks. heart murmur. she died quiety about a week later in my arms, while i was sitting on couch looking out window for hubby to race home to get me to vet to have her put to sleep. we knew it was time, she was going quickly. i had no idea she died, even after for a few moments. she just quietly died. i thought i could neveer handle that kind of death, but without sounding crazy, it was the most peaceful death i was ever able to except of my dogs. rose |

| update on the baby OK so she ia 4 and a half months old. First we researched her condition a little more and we gave her some nutri stat and some different types of sugar. When i talk to the breeder he said to try vanilla ice cream because at this point she wasnt drinking anything either so we had to hydrate and watch the sugar level. About 20 mins later Jade(puppy) was running around but her equilibrium still looked lke it was off. We called the 24 hour vet hospital and they said to let her nap but only with a close watch. So we keep checking on her every 10-15 mins making sure her response were ok. After about 4 hours we left her rest up through the night, and now our baby seems to be doing great. Things got a little scary last night and i just wanted to thank everyone. The breeder also said that up until she is 6 months old she can have diz spells that typically last 4-7 days. When that happens we are supposed to give her some sugar and some r and r. Anyhow we are giving her some vitamins daily for a while and then we will go from there.....Thanks |

Glad she is OK - However, the above statement makes NO sense Please look up Liver Shunt and just keep *that* info in the back of your mind. I am sure she just had low blood sugar, BUT you must also be aware that LS is huge genetic defect that Yorkies are 36 times more likely to have than any other breed. "Drunken" state is one of the #1 symptoms of LS | |

| If a dog has dizzy spells for 4-7 days, there is something wrong. While it's great that your pup came out of the problem last night, she still wasn't quite right after the sugar kicked in, so she needs to be bile acids tested and watched very closely...
