| bad reaction to shots please help My little guy Gus just had his third set of shots last Friday. Easter Sunday he became very tired and just wanted to sleep. Monday morning he couldn't even stand and I rushed him to the Vet. Lots of blood work and test and everything came back negative other than a elevated white blood count and fever. He can't stand his back legs are so weak . Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. The Vet has him on Prednisolone and Doxycycline and he is better other than not being abel to stand on his back legs. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | An elevated blood count and fever indicates an infection. Hope he's better soon.

| What shots did he get? My Lady had a terrible reaction to her last rabies shot. She was on steriods for a week, but she did recover. Hopefully the weakness in his back legs is just because he is so sick. |

| Thanks everyone !!! Gus is getting a little better today. He is eating and drinking and I'm giving him the nutrical . He is just very weak and sore to the touch. Our Vet has been great , he is talking to a specialist and has checked in with me several times. His fever is gone and his white blood count is fine. We think it was a reaction to the shots or a reaction to heartgard worm medicine. I'm glad I found this site, it has so much useful advice. Thanks again and let's keep our fingers crossed. |

I'm sure you won't make the same mistake again after this experience, but in the future always separate the shots by a couple of weeks (never rabies along with another booster) and always give the heartworm and flea medications separately. I do Lady's heartworm the first of every month and her flea treatment on the 15th. I'm glad he is starting to improve. | |
