| Severe reaction to vaccinations! Help! I took my 13 week old puppy, Riley (2lbs.), to the vet Monday for his 3rd set of shots. The vet said that he could possibly have a reaction. The last time he got shots, he just slept for a few hours and then he was fine. This time, I ran into the store to pick up a few things while my husband kept Riley in the car. When I came out, I noticed that his eyes were almost swollen shut. I called the office and they said to bring him in immediately. They gaved him a shot of benadryl and (bexamethasone?) and they didn't charge me anything. The vet said they would make a note on his chart, but I'm wondering what will happen next time. He was better by the time we got him home and perfectly normal within a few hours. The vet had me continue to give him a cc of benadryl for a few doses to make sure everything was OK. He didn't develop any hives or have any breathing issues. Has anyone else had this happen? He goes back for half his rabies shot next week and then the other half the next week. He also has one more shot coming. I'm just super concerned. Any advice or info. would be greatly appreciated. |

| What was in this vaccine? Lepto? He should be premedicated with Benadryl next time.

| I think she said DHLLP. She said it was his first "adult" shot, but he's only 3 months. I know they didn't give him lepto before. I think they said they don't give it until they're a certain weight. |

| If it had an L in it, they gave lepto. Thirteen weeks is too young to give it (in my opinion) and it has been known to kill Yorkie pups, so rarely (if ever) should it be given.
