Hi, I hope someone can help me. Kia just got over parvo and now this. It seems that the injections on under her coat to get fluids in got infected. She is taken antibiotics and also I am cleaning with peroxide water and putting neosporing; In the morning the scab looks better like is healing, then she starts schratching and opens the wound up again, also takes chunks of hair. What do I do? and will the hair grow back up?

You certainly need to prevent scratching. You could get a "soft cone" It is like the hard plastic collar cones but made of a material like the aprons a hairdresser uses. They are much more comfortable then the hard ones. I've used them several times over the years

Is this to use on her neck? becuse this wound is on her body and I think she could still reach even with a cone in her neck.

Could you wrap her around with Vet wrap? It molds and tightens itself, so be careful about too tight.

Use caution with Peroxide - especially straight from the bottle (35% pure). Not only is it toxic it will destroy healthy flesh as well as killing germs.

My vet has always recommended using peroxide to do an initial cleansing and then switch over to Betadyne for daily cleanings. If the wound doesn't heal within a reasonable period of time, a trip to the vet is in order.

I just wanted to thank you guys for the advise, and give you an update on Kia's wound. I stoped cleaning with peroxide, used a special antiseptic, put a steralized pad and wraped her with the vet wrap, and put her sweter on. No more scratching wich means the wound is healing up. Yeyy!

She looks happy, active and still very hungry after the 9 days she was sick with parvo. Praise God!

I'm so glad to hear Kia is doing better! Keep it wrapped for a while as it's bound to itch as it heals. Good job!!
