| Should I Be Worried? Hi! Little Zoe went to the vet this morning to get her 3rd series of puppy shots. (I made sure they did not add lepto and they don't do corona.) Long story short the vet gave her the shot outside the room I was in (she had to shave her also and did it all at once). According to the vet she handled the shot well, I didn't hear her make a noise when I presume they gave her her shot. They shaved her butt, as she'd been having issues with you know what sticking to it. Ever since that started a few days ago she'll freak out whenever something's stuck on her but. They must have just nicked her when they trimmed her butt and it bled but the vet cleaned it up and made sure she was okay again. Ever since then she's been sleepy, which I expected and was fine with. But she's quick to sit, almost as if getting off her butt. And she yelps when you touch her butt/back leg area, though I'm not sure if it's her butt or her thigh (maybe where she got her shot) that's causing this. She's had no interest in food (though she's not a big eater normally) and she's drank a tiny bit. But really, since the vet visit at 11am she's drank once or twice and made maybe three times. She won't play with her toys on her own, convincing her takes at least 5-10 minutes and the second either she or I go near her butt/back she shakes and abruptly stops and lays back down. Otherwise she'll just sleep/lay there in your arms. She's 15 weeks old and only 2.75 pounds. Is this just her having a "bad day" after everything at the vets? Or is this a reaction to the vaccines I should be concerned about? (Regardless, if she's this off tomorrow morning I'm calling the vet ASAP.) |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | As long as her gums are pink and her face/cheeks are not swollen, and she's not terribly lethargic - I wouldn't worry tooooo much. I'd encourage her to drink a bit more water - maybe sweeten it w/ karo or honey. Depending on which shots they gave - they may have given it in the side of one of her back legs, and that can get quite sore. Sort of like - have you ever gotten a shot in your shoulder muscle and it hurts like heck for a few days? It's like that. So, she may be favoring it, or shying away from you touching it. And, yep - shots can make them tired and worn out. So, just keep a close eye on her and try to keep her hydrated and get her to eat if you can.

| Okay, I think it's safe to say she's feeling better. This morning she was frisky and played with me all on her own! She likes to "talk" which is a weird combo of barking/growling/and other vocalizations when we play and she talked! I tried touching her butt and her leg and the leg got a nasty look so I'm thinking that's the culprit right now. (Thanks so much Wylie's Mom for the explanation! It makes sense but the vet didn't tell me where she gave her the shot or that she may be sore afterward, like she did last time, so I didn't think it would hurt afterward.) I've penned her off to eat, as she wasn't eating for me freed standing. (Though eating is ALWAYS an ordeal with Zoe.) Here's hoping she's so ravenous she'll eat! I was freaking out last night and just needed someone else to say they thought it was all due to the shot. So thanks! So far so good, here's hoping the rest of the morning goes just as well! |

| I am glad she is feeling better . The little ones can have a harder time after vaccines.
