| Yorkie sick every three to four months Hi Everyone I have a 1yr 3 month 5 lb yorkie who gets dehydrated every three to four month. He has water all the time and eats normal but every so often he starts to drool and than a little foam comes out of his month. Than I notice he gets very sick looking and than I check his gums and they start to turn white. This happen again Sat. and I brought him to the vet, they have to give him an I V and he has to stay over night. Now I love my Ollie to death but the vet said they don't know what is happen to him. They ask if he got into anything and all three time I know he didn't he just get this every three to four months. Is there anyone else that has this problem, has anyone heard of anything like this? This has happen three times to my poor baby and I don't know what to do. It has cost me almost 5,000. so far for the three visits and he also saw an internist who can't figure it out. All I get is he needs more test. Please help I'm a single mom who just lost my husband last year and can't bare to have a another lost. Please help! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | What have the blood tests shown? When he comes in, I'm sure they've drawn blood immediately - and I'm wondering what the glucose level was. Also, have they done an ECG to check his heart rhythm? Have they ruled out seizures (there are many types, including types where they still seem conscious)? Have they checked his blood pressure right when you've brought him in? How is the "dehydration" being diagnosed? Simply by the gums or also confirmed via bloodworks?

| Hi thanks for the response yes they did do blood work every time , along with and EKG and a sonogram. His blood pressure is fine, he was a little low with his temp.98. Last time his temp was 93-94. the vet said all he saw in the blood work was high levels that he thought he had pancreatitis.. They did a sonogram and found nothing So with all the test they said they don’t know what it was. All we know is he gets sick to his stomach they give him pepcide ac and he gets better. Please if anyone HAS AN ANSWER. |
