Help! He Fell!!!

I was holding Marley (15 week old pup) tonight, and he got excited to see my boyfriend's little dog Sammy and jumped out of my arms! Since, I was standing, he had a long fall to the hard wood floor. He landed oh his back! As soon as he landed he began to yelp extremely loud! I was soo worried, I scooped him up but he would not stop yelping. I was afraid he was injured and handed him to my boyfriend. After a good few seconds of yelping Marley finally calmed down. My boyfriend checked his limbs to see if they were okay, and we placed him on the floor to see if he could walk. Sure enough he was able to move his little legs just fine, and follow around Sammy the house.
Now he seems to be okay, just a little shocked. Since this happened late at night, I know he was already tired... so now he just wants to rest. I feel like HORRIBLE mommy, and pray that he is okay.

Should I take him to the vet tomorrow? Or should I wait and see if he is acting unusual? Please give me advice!

Don't feel bad. They are little wiggle worms and it could happen to anyone.

If he seems ok right now, I would keep an eye on him tonight and call the vet in the morning and ask what they think.

Yes they are very squirmy and it has happened to my pups when friends have been holding them. It is so scary but the little guys are pretty resilient. I bet he will be just fine but definitely watch his behavior and how he moves and you will know in the morning if you should call the vet or not. Poor little guy, give him a squeeze and a hug from us.

I'm so sorry that happened! When Tucker was young he jumped and landed on his back too. I think it's worse for us than it is them - lol. If he is seemingly OK, then I think you can wait to take him to the vet. If in the morning he's still acting weird, you should probably take him in to get everything checked out. If it doesn't seem to be bothering him, then I wouldn't worry. Sometimes they'll just freak out and yelp like that because they just get scared, even though it makes us feel like we almost killed them!

Awee, I feel so bad for Marley, and for you to! My goodness, that had to be so scarey. Accidents do happen sweety so please don't be so hard on yourself ok? Just remember in the future how excited he gets when others or other furkids are around and try and keep him close to the ground. These lil wiggly butts are hard to keep a hold of when they really wanna meet someone, lol. Personally, now this is just me and the way I am with Lil Miss Maggy May. I'd go to the vet and have her looked at by the doc, I'd really rather be safe than sorry. Yes I'm a worry wart, but hey, she's my baby.

Roxie's done this too. She's jumped from some pretty hi places before I can stop her but she's always managed to be ok. They are alot tougher then we realize and are very muscular little dogs. The muscle must protect their little bones in some cases. I'm sure your little one is ok...don't blame yourself they really are quick and can wiggle out of your arms in a split second!

They sure are the most wiggly of animals! I had my Littlest Mac on the kitchen counter when he was 10 weeks old and while holding him - he squirmed out backwards between my arm and my body and yes he fell to the floor and started yelping like there's no tomorrow. Scared me 'crapless'! He (and I) finally settled down and I could see that he moved okay but I still took him to the vets for reassurance. My little guy was and is perfectly okay and I'm sure yours will be too - but it sure is frightening. You may want to take him to the vets just to get reassured as well; just so you won't have to say: "I should have taken him, I know I should have"... Hindsight is 20 / 20 they say. Better safe than sorry later.
