| gordigirl I erverybody! My rescue Yorkie "Bailey" (we think he is 12) is with us now a week and a half. The little boy has been dumped at the vets to be put down. I do also have a 13 year old Yorkie girl since she was a puppy, so the vet does know me very well and called me to see if I would adopt Bailey. When I saw his little poor face I possibly couldn't say no! Bailey has been starved for several weeks and is completely undernourished, he also has the most awful teeth I have ever seen. So, the problem is he won't eat sufficient to build up weight-he obviously has terribble pains while eating. It doesn't help that he also is the most fussy eater I have ever seen! Thought my girl is bad enough, but he is impossible. Bought every quality puppy food available, cooked at least 10 different homecooked meals- he only takes a bit of roast beef in gravy with rice. Anyway, I'm getting seriously worried now, don't know what else to offer him. He will have his dental surgery next Monday, but don't know if he will survive it if he doesn't eat!! Please, need some ideas asap!! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | How wonderful of you to take him in. Have you tried hamburger or baby food. Maybe the vet can do the surgery sooner so he will feel more like eating. I hope you can get him better.

| I would try white rice and boiled hamburger. My dogs scarf that down. soft bread and peanut butter maybe? I know its not the 'best' but Im sure at this point its better to feed him anything that he'll eat. Poor little guy! Good Luck with him! Aren't you his angel to save him, adopt him and work so hard to keep him healthy and happy!

| Here's what I would try: Grind up some quality dry food in a blender until it is very fine so all he has to do is lick it. Leave this dry food down for him. Buy some baby food chicken and mix with one of two of the following vegetables: sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, carrots, squash. Put this mixture on your finger and see if he will lick it off your fingers or put it on your finger and stick it in his mouth. His mouth must be terribly sore. I would also be giving him some Nutri-cal or Pet-tinic. Another thing mine are crazy about is the Natural Balance Lamb dog food roll that they sell at Petco. You could grate some of that up and offer it to him. I know that will put weight on him. I just hope and pray that there is nothing else wrong with him. It is so wonderful that you are giving this little boy a chance to enjoy life a little longer. I will be praying for him. |
