| What could this be? I went home to my parents' house this weekend and while we were all sitting outside, Layla rolled onto her back and I noticed red almost rash-like spots all over her tummy and legs. I looked closer and they seemed to have dry peely skin around them too. I was concerned but thought I'd see what it looked like at the end of the weekend. Well, today it looks the same but some parts look much darker and sort of brown-ish, and it seems like it has spread further up her chest. One of the spots looks circular and I'm worried about ringworm. I tried taking pictures but they didn't turn out too well. I've attached the two best. Does this look serious? It doesn't seem to be bothering her at all, even for me to touch the spots. I'm wondering if I should take her to the vet in the morning, or if I should wait for it to clear on its own...

| That's what I was afraid of. How long after infection do symptoms like that show up? The reason I'm asking is that Layla hadn't really been out of the house much for the past two weeks, but we were at puppy class on Wednesday. I'm wondering if she might have gotten it from another dog at classes, or if she could have gotten it a few weeks ago and just not had symptoms until now? And she could possibly have infected other dogs at the classes? I'm a little stressed out now I guess I'll call the vet in the morning and try to get her in to find out for sure.

| Someone else recently had the same symptoms and it was an infection. Good thing you are seeing the vet for a diagnosis. Warmly, Deborah

| Awww my poor baby. She's been sleeping for about 10 hours straight, just getting up to change positions. She usually follows me everywhere.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | It could also be a bacterial infection that the vet can give meds for. Is she scratching? The vet should be able to tell. Keep us posted.

| She hasn't been scratching as far as I can tell. A few times yesterday she would get up from laying down to put her head down there, but I don't know if she was licking it or what. The vet's office opens in 10 minutes so I'll be calling to make an appointment. I'm just hoping and praying that it's not ringworm though. I've already paid for all the puppy classes and she's only been to 1, and we got a hard to get grooming appointment for next Monday! Hopefully it's just an infection that will clear up quickly.

| While I think this could be alarming, don't jump the gun. There are so many other things it could be. Take the pup to the vet. They will do a skin test and it will take up to 2 weeks before you would even know for sure if it ringworm. My guess is it's not and could be a staff infection that is very easy to clear up. Good Luck! Here's a link and pictures of what ringworm looks like. Ringworm in Cats & Dogs - Pictures of Ringworm Quote:

| If it will take 2 weeks to know for sure, I should probably still stay away from puppy classes and the groomer, right?

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | those do not look much different than my Diggys and Bellas hives last week. After researching hives and 4 trips to the vet, both vets said most people think hives are ringworm and they arent. I would take a trip to the vet to be safe but hopefully this is just some mean ole hives or like Carole said a Staff infection both which are treated easily. Good luck and keep us posted!

| Oh good, I'm feeling a little better now. I just called the vet and got their answering machine saying they're not open right now.... I hope they're just late getting into work and not actually closed today.... trying again...

Well I am the MASTER of nerves...lol I stress out bad and thanks to many YT'ers they do give me a lil relief. I was taught very early on in Diggys life DONT jump to conclusions as you just freak yourself out and prolly are off on what u suspect, being we tend to suspect the worse. Hopefully just the hives and some steroids and benadryl will fix her right up! Not sure what the give to staff but Carloe knows her stuff and says its cleared easily so Id trust what she said....I ALWAYS do
