| Small mass at base of tail About 2 weeks ago my little furbaby fell and hurt his leg. I took him to the vet they did xrays and confirmed that he did not have any broken bones or dislocations. I was told he should be walking in about a week. Well he does walk, run and even jump using the leg, but I have noticed that he still favors that leg at times. While I was bathing him I noticed a soft mass at the base of his tail, just above his butt hole. Does any one have any ideal what this to be? Other than that he seems fine. Is this normal for yorkies? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh by the way while at the vet they did a complete check-up on Chase, and said other than his hurt leg he is healthy. |

| It could be muscular. My dog dougal's been doing most things just fine but hopping on and off while he's running. Turned out he's got a seriously strained groin muscle! But sorry I don't know what the lump is!

| I think I'd take him to the vet also. I don't know whether this could be a type of hernia, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

| I would like to thank everyone for showing concern for my furbaby, he has an appointment today at 4:30, I will let you know what they tell me. I sure hope it isn't something serious. I have two furbabies and they keep me on my toes. I worry so much about them. |

| Update: Small mass at base of tail I took my baby to the vet today. They seem to think that it is his anal glands, according to the vet an anal gland can become swollen anywhere around the anus, I really didn't think that could be problem since it wasn't exactly at his anus. She said to watch it and see if the swelling goes down, which it does seem like it has some since she cleaned the gland. He has to go back in a month for another check-up, sooner if the mass seems to get bigger or starts to bother him. So please pray that my baby gets better. Thanks |

| Well that is a relief. Soo glad it wasn't something internal. Best wishes.
