| Aal Hi All! My Dolce had the AAL surgery 6 months ago and is recovered but now I'm fostering (and hoping my hubby'll fall in love with and allow me to keep) another yorkie who has the same condition. She's had the surgery Wed and now is in recovery mode. Her name is Juicy (we named her cause she didn't come with one) and is 6-7 months, 1.7lbs. Her original owners were going through a divorce and losing their home. They went to their neighbors and said they were leaving and if the neighbors wanted anything, they should go over and take whatever they liked. 4 days later the neighbor finally went over and saw this handbag sitting in plain site and looked inside. Juicy was in there, paralyzed from the neck down because of trauma to her neck in her own poo and pee cause she couldn't move. And malnutritioned and dehydrated. WHO COULD LEAVE AN ANIMAL TO DIE LIKE THAT!!!!! She took the dog to he brother who has yorkies and he called my girlfriend (Kris)who rescues animals. Kris and I share the same vet and she took Juicy to him. The vet kept her overnight to run tests and observation. He concluded that Juicy had some neurological problems and referred her to my specialist/neurologist. My neurologist saw her right away and after field tests and exstensive x-rays diagnoised her with AAL. He preformed the surgery right away. And since my girlfriend has 20 dogs and animals that she's rescued and owns, I voluntered to foster. I just went through the process so it kind of worked out. Not really knowing her medical background or how long she's suffered with this paralysis we don't know what her recovery rate'll be. But a day after her surgery she was walking (though wobbly). I'm hoping and praying for a good outcome, but prepering myself that she may not be 100%. I just wanted to share my story and any feedback on if anyone has been through this would be appreciated. |

| Thank God for people like you that are there to help these babies. I don't have any expereince with any major surgery or health issues so I have no advice to offer but wanted to let you know that I think you are a speical person to be caring for this baby as she much needs it. I know that Bleu Boys mother has been through the surgery with Bleu and she may be able to give you some advice.

| That is one of the most horrific stories I have ever heard! How sick people are. But then there are angels like you and the vet 7 rescuer who will do whatever it takes. Do you mean AAI surgery, I'm not familiar with AAL - but I know that Baby Bear & Bleu & one little girl - forgot her name - have had AAI/AAS

Donating YT 30K Club Member | That is so terribly sad. Thank God for people like you and others involved in rescue. I will pray she can lead a near normal life loved like she deserves. Those owners should be charged with animal cruelty. Would it have hurt to drop her off at a shelter or rescue?? I am sick thinking of that poor baby sitting like that for 4 days. You are wonderful

| OOPS! I was getting it wrong the whole time? AAS is what I ment. I sent Vicki a message but I know she's busy with what's going on with Bleu. Thank you for the sweet comments but my girlfriend's the real hero, and the vet and surgeon. She rescues ALL animals and takes on their medical expenses. It really sickens me how people can disreguard a living thing like that. I wish I knew the info on the people to turn them in. But karma'll be a bitch! |
