Ocular Discharge - Please help! My little boy Riley is 8months old, 3.5 lbs, he's a little guy with a tiny face, but his hair is always in his eyes. Ever since he was a few months old he has had SO MUCH ocular discharge from his eyes that his moustache is all sticky and clumped. It gets very sour smelling and is very hard to clean. Could this discharge mean anything serious? I've spent so much at the vet already and don't really wanna take him so I am hoping someone out there knows how to help. Riles acts like he's healthy, but I worry about this situation. Thanks!

| I wasn't going to respond because I don't know too much about it, but I guess I might know something. Ellie got that last February. Her eyes were runny and it smelled weird. She seemed to be fine though. One day I noticed that the whites of her eyes were red. We went to the vet and she was diagnosed with conjunctivitis. We used meds and the redness went away. They were still runny and smelly. The vet said her eyes are fine and it is common. Keep hair out of them and use baby wipes if necessary. So, I think it is up to you to decide if you want to take your doggie to the vet so they can look, but they may say it is normal...

You may want to take your baby to the vet and be ck. I cut the hair between the eyes all the time of my girls.

My litle guy is 1 year old and he had eye discharge so I took him to the vet and they told me that it could be 1 of 3 things. It could be an eye allergy, baby fine hairs going towards his eye or it could be eye ulcers. They gave me eye drops for $30 and told me to come back in 14 days. Well it's been 7 already and his eyes are cleared up, they were cleared up after the 2nd dose of drops. So hopefully it's not eye ulcers and it's only allergies. The vet did say that alot of dogs rub there faces on furniture and other things that can irritate the eyes. My little guys loves to rub his face along the bottom of the couch after he eats. I hope this info was helpful!

I dont think it's eye ulcers but he does have A LOT of hair in his eyes... I trimmed it back yesterday and bought a special cleaner for tears and that seems to be working better. poor little guy just probably has irritated eyes!
