| Two of Ellie's Staples were Twisted Ellie got her staples out tonight. I figured she would cry a bit but didn't like that idea at all. The tech took her back and I heard her scream a couple times. She had about 17 staples to be taken out. The tech brought her back out and said two of the staples were twisted (owww) and her skin is irritated. Now we have to put warm washclothes on it twice a day and neosporin. She has to continue wearing a onesie so she doesn't lick the neosporin off. If it doesn't heal we go back. I am sooo tired of problems. I would highly recommend that everyone makes sure that your vet closes spay incisions with stitches, not staples. In this case I am guessing the vet needed to get the abdomen closed because of the anesthetic risk with Ellie, so it wasn't the vet's fault. But if you have a choice, you might want to do stitches. grrrrrrrr... I am sure they have their problems too though. I just want her to be better.

| LOL, I almost did lose it. Now I am wondering if the tech yanked them or let the vet do it. I really should have been supervising.

| No, not yet. I am beginning to get quite antsy about it. If the vet doesn't call soon I will probably call her and nag.

| Ooo owie, poor Ellie. I've never seen stitches, when Indy was spayed she just had 3 tiny stitches, she barely even noticed them coming out. |

| Do you mean you've never seen staples? Ellie's looked similar to this but double the amount of staples when she came home. A couple fell out. Ellie's incision was longer than this too. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47668
