| Sam ate a grape... Tonight I noticed a piece of a grape on the floor where Sam was sitting after our 3 year old was eating some grapes. I have warned the kids many times that grapes are very dangerous for dogs, but I guess one of them got away from my daughter and Sam found it. I wasn't positive he had eaten a grape but I didn't want to chance it. I first came to this site and read about hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. I called the emergency vet and they said it might work, it might not. I told them I would give it a shot and if he didn't vomit then I would bring him in. I gave him about 1 tsp. or a little less and he weighs about 7 pounds. I took him outside and within about 5 minutes he threw up twice. It worked! Within 3 minutes of that, he was back running around like nothing even happened! He ate some more food and drank some water and now he is back to his chewing little self! I would suggest this for anyone who suspects their little baby ate something harmful. Worked like a charm! once again, I love this site!! |

| Oh my gosh, that must have been so scary for you. I'm glad he's ok now. But how did you get the hydrogen peroxide into his mouth cause I'm sure it doesn't taste good?

| Thanks for your reply on how you managed to get that in his mouth. I'm going to look tonight but I think I probably have some of those small syringe's left over from when my kids were little. Some things I just never throw out.

| Hey there. I thought I was up on most of the things not good for our babies but I must have missed the grapes. What is it that makes them bad for dogs? Thanks. Elaine. P.S. glad to hear you guy is good. |

| It is large amounts of grapes that were found to cause kidney failure (I believe thats is what it was but not sure). Your little one probably would have been fine eating just one grape but I would have probably done the same not knowing what is too much for such little dogs. Better safe then sorry, and thanks for sharing your story, you taught me how to induce vomiting if needed and you have taught at least 1 person that grapes are dangerous for out little furbutts
