| Do you 'groom' before the groomer? I always feel like I have to bathe and brush Teddy and make him look amazing before I leave him with the groomer! |

| I only brush Cody really well to make sure there are no mats in his hair, summer I bathe him a few days before his appointment, so I guess yes, I groom him before the groomer, I feel if you hand over a messy pup not much care will be given to details , but, if your pup appears to be well maintained you will get a perfectly groomed baby. Just my opinion.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I 'square up' to Crystal for her pre-cut, comb out, every two months. After 5 rounds of exhaustive brushing and combing, where she assaults every implement I possess with her splendid teeth, we drive the three miles to the salon. This is set in a little out-house in a 'Fairy Tale' cottage garden, with a gurgling brook and a welcoming tranquility, post the stress of conflict. I sit with Wendy's (our cutters) husband, whilst we catch up on cricket scores, coffee and Aspirin in my shaking hand. I then watch through the bay window, with unfolding incredulity as she allows 'Wendy' to do anything with her she likes to her tresses, whilst eying me with mischievous glee! "Ah, if only they were all as well behaved as dear little Crystal", coo's this lovely lady as we leave. I won't tell you what I call her in the car going home - The little minx! |

I do all of Katie's grooming myself. It's wonderful you have someone you trust with her.

| I groom my two myself. I wish I could find a groomer that would follow my instructions. I gave up trying!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Great thread. Jillie used to mat really bad, and I figured it would be less stressful on her if I worked at the knots instead of the groomer. But I discovered I didn't have the skill to give her a less stressful experience. I eventually just apologized to the groomer and let Jillie hate her instead of me! Fortunately, she stopped matting so bad with her adult hair.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Gosh, how true, rather like hairdressers too! Wendy is an ex 'Crufts' cutter and loves to 'shape' Crystal and no matter how many times I request her little leggies to be left all bushy, they get sacrificed to match the 'number 7' on the body. However she does a fine job and my little girl is so beautiful anyway, that like my wife, the fine features always shine through. |

Those clever little eyes levelling, as her head turns from side to side in consideration to my recount of a paragraph or so. A little 'huh' or snort signifies opinion, as she returns to her luxuriant repose upon the padded velvet underlay! I often look in here as a break, and these little jottings are almost a way of thanking her for these long vigils with me, I can't imagine working without her now.

This is exactly what I started to do! Teddy used to go to a Cruft's groomer but I think it got so busy there that the novices were allowed to groom when she was otherwise occupied. Because of her status, I used to be so paranoid to leave Mr Cottony Loves to Mat 3 seconds after being Released from the Comb and Making Mom's Hands and Face Sweaty with Stress in any 'normal' condition. Now, however, Ms Mobile Groomer aka Teddy's new girlfriend gets, "I'm really sorry - his fur is a pain - but he loves you - so, good luck!"

| Grooming My sweet little 3.8 pound morkie Bella Dawn dislikes being groomed. She loves her groomer but still dislikes the process. Her beautician calls her a little piranha. |

| That kinda defeats the point of taking them to the groomer, doesn't it? I mean they are grooming to work, not for social time with our dogs. However, if some accident happens I'm not going leave my dog a horrible mess. |

| To groom before the groomer is like cleaning the house for the housekeeper! Guilty! |
