YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Entry for National Geographic Photo contest Would like some opinions if you think this pic is "technically" good enough for entry?

| I don't know anything about photography technique, but I do know that I love the picture. Good luck Gail!

| It's a wonderful action shot that tells a story of a beloved and athletic dog having fun in the water. I would submit that in a heartbeat!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Thanks guys. I'm still reading the entry rules over, but if I include that person I need permission from her. Also I think I have to contact the club to see if they mind as their poster is dead center in the shot, and I have no idea that I can "edit" that out with any degree of success. First prize is $10,000 plus a trip to Washington D.,C.

| I also love that photo! You would need permission, as you just stated, but it would be so great for their club. I have seen some winners of the National Geographic contests. The photos are stunning. While the poster is distracting, I wouldn't want to see it edited out. As Jeannie said, it tells a story of what Magic is doing, and I think it's needed for context. There has been controversy about one photo in particular that was won for a contest where it wasn't an animal in its natural habitat and complaints about it being staged. I don't think they even allow editing. That is a great photo that shows amazing action, and I absolutely love Magic in that shot! |

| This is the contest I was referring to. He was disqualified. Loan wolf? Prizewinning photographer faces fakery claims | Art and design | The Guardian At least with the background, they would know for sure what Magic was having so much doing. Go for it, Gail! Your boy is truly stunning, and it's such a fun photo. Last edited by lisaly; 11-10-2012 at 11:32 AM. |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Thanks Lisa. I contacted (I hope National Geo) because I noticed the categories were; people, places, or nature.... so I wondered if a dog photo would qualify under nature
