| Suggest me a good puppy Hello, I need a serious suggestion. I have a 3 years old yorkie, and now I want to bring another puppy home. Which other dog can be a good pair with my yorkie? Few days back I saw a pitbull, he was really beautiful with grey coat and a grayish blue nose. I really loved that dog. First, I thought to buy a pitbull but then I found that they don't like other dogs. Is it true? If yes, then obviously it won't be a sensible choice to buy a pitbull. What other dog can be a good choice? Need serious suggestions please. |

In getting a new puppy when you have a dog already, and this applies to any breed of dog and bringing a new puppy home. You have to take into consideration your dog, how you raised him, how you trained him. Is he dog friendly, does he interact well with other dogs, is he a food guarder, does he require a lot of attention from you and most importantly, is he neutered. There is no right or wrong breed for a yorkie or any other breed of dog. YT has many members that have big dogs and yorkies, it all depends on the nature of your dog, he is either going to like or dislike whatever breed you bring home to his turf. There is always an adjustment time period for your dog to get use to a new kid now sharing his space. If you are looking to add another dog to be this dog BFF, select a breed that you want, I would suggest one more to the size of the yorkie you have now. Yorkies are high energy dogs, they love to wrestle and be wild, run and chase each other. A dog his size would be ideal, a larger breed could injure a yorkie if rough housing gets to rough, again, it’s how you will raise and train this new puppy. I had a pack of 3 females yorkies, all 3 years apart, all now passed. My babies were all very well socialized with all types of dog breeds, sizes and other animals. My girls never fought with each other, there was no jealousy with any of them, all got equal attention. So to answer your question, get a dog of your choice, one that you will love forever, it’s a roll of the dice whether your present dog will accept any new puppy.

| Actually, you are right. Considering a same-sized dog will be a better option. I've read that pitbull is very loving to people only, but when it comes to other dogs, he hates them, and can harm them. |

| Here is a link you should watch about first time owners of Pit Bull terriers, then decide if you still want a Pit Bull. A story from my own personal experience with a friend that owned a Pit Bull and a 6 Lb yorkie. Both dogs were gotten as puppies, yorkie was 6 months old when the Pit Bull was purchased. Both raised together. The Yorkie was the dominant one, always bossing the Pit Bull around, always taking toys away from the Pit Bull. The Pit Bull was always crated when my friend had to leave the house for any amount of time. Now both dogs are 6 years old. The Pit Bull was sleeping, the yorkie wanted to play, she started bothering the Pit Bull to wake him up, the Pit Bull grabbed the 6 Lb yorkie around the middle of her back and broke her spine killing the yorkie in a blink of the eye. Here were two dogs that were raised together, got along good, were BFF, yet this happened. watch the this link, then decide if you still want a Pit Bull https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...%26form%3DQBVR

| What this link does not mention is, the terrier breed was bred to flush out and kill rodents. So most terriers have a high prey drive that cannot be bred out of today's terriers. Pit Bulls terriers have this same prey drive and may see toy breed dogs as prey.
