| New Member of my Furbaby Family. " Hi " everyone. I would like to introduce the newest member of my furbaby family, Gracie!! We adopted her last Friday evening from the local Shih Tzu Rescue. Gracie is 10 years old and has a very sad story. The Rescue rescued her from a Puppy Mill. She spent her entire 10 years as a Puppy Mill dog in a small wire cage being bred over & over again. When the Rescue had her teeth cleaned by their vet, her jaw cracked because it was so brittle. Their vet fixed her jaw but she is still on medicine for that. Saturday morning, as I was feeding her, I accidently stepped on her paw. Till Saturday night, she held her paw up in the air and wouldn't walk on it. I thought maybe I had broken her little paw so Sunday morning we took her to the Pet Emergency Clinic. Turns out, no broken paw, thank god, but an infection in her paw & pawpad. She is on more medicine for that and we have to soak her paw in special solution 2-4 times a day. She has an appointment with our vet this Friday to have her paw checked out. It does look better, but still looks sore. In all her 10 years she's never had a name. We named her Gracie because we thought by the grace of God, she will never have to spend another day in such horrible, horrible conditions. Whatever time Gracie has left, which I pray is many, many years yet, she will know the love of a family and be very well cared for. Thanks for reading about Gracie. Since I don't know how to attach pics to my threads yet, click on Rudy or Lucky's Dogster Page and it will bring her pic up as a family member, then click on her pic and it will bring up her Dogster Page. I don't know why the link to her page is showing not found.

| "Thank You" Kyle, Betty's Mom, T Doll, Lisa and Pic, V & Kim for all your kind words on Gracie. I appreciate that! She lets us pet her, has not once barked yet, but she is still skittish when we pick her up to go outside to do her business. I know that will take time, I'm sure no-one has ever much held her before. She really is the sweetest girl for all that she's been thru. This is so...sad though. She doesn't know what treats are. We even tried to give her a small piece of turkey and she didn't even know what it was. The Rescue was feeding her canned soft Evangers Chicken dog food and we've continued that. She gobbles that up. Rudy & Lucky are good with her. They go up and sniff her and then go on about their own business. Last evening was the lst time since we've got her that she's walked in our bedroom and slept on the floor on a blanket near our bed. The couple days before that, she just wanted to sleep out in the hallway by herself.

I hope that she will come to trust you and your family and become "one of the gang". You are awesome to rescue her?

| Dawn your an angel. I am getting ready to close shop for the weekend and opened your thread and now sitting here crying like a big boob! 10 yrs in a cage? It's pathetic and inhumane. May God give her years of health and happiness to make it up to her. Bless you Dawn for being her human angel. Hugs, |
