| Does anyone have a Bassett Hound? Thinking of buying one for hubby for his b-day in July. He is usu against having pets in the house though he loves Gypsy. I kinda kidded him about getting one and he seems receptive to it. Even going as far as saying he would like a male and he would do the training. Just wondered if they would be good with a Yorkie.

| How fun...that is my husband's favorite breed! One of best friends and her husband own one and she is very sweet. I was surprised how huge they are!!!! They have short legs but they are big dogs. Good luck with your decision...great gift for your hubby! Tammy |

| I fostered one for my son's friend for 2 years while he was in the Army. She was a snuggly sweetheart and completely potty trained. But on the down side..she had that hound dog smell no matter how often I bathed her! She also shed terribly and slobbered alot. Maybe I should have kept her outside, lol!!

| We had a bassett hound named Chloe, she passed away about 5 years ago at the age of 14 and I still miss her. She was the best rug dog lol. But when we brought Maxx home (he is 11 now) she so totally fell in love with him! She was also absolutely wonderful with my 2 girls who grew up with her at the same time. I would recommend a Bassett to anyone - I wish I could've cloned her. She was the runt of the litter and had no medical problems whatsoever until about 3 months before her death. Hope you find one as precious as her. |
