| I need Luau party ideas!! Help!! I am throwing a 50th birthday Luau for my mom and I am looking for some great ideas. I have already checked out MarthaStewart.com, but I just want something more..lol.. I really want this to be a great, creative party and so far it is going to be, but I can always go bigger! lol We're going to be setting up poles in the grass with lights strung between them (I put artificial hawaiian-like flowers on each clear bulb to make my own hawaiian strand of lights). I have a tiki bar coming, a margarita machine, hawaiian bbq catering and bright colors galore! But I want more! And I know how amazing-ly creative some of you are, so help a kid out! lol Thanks! |

| I watch so many shows on the style network. They are great for ideas on decorating. What about some table decorations? For instance, beta fish are pretty cheap at a petstore or walmart. You could put one on each table and let people take them home as party favors. They are easy to take care of. Or, floating votive candles or floating flowers. Somehow try to incorporate water? I will keep thinking for you. I love theme parties!

| Oh my grandma throws a luau every year! She buys grass skirts from a party store and attaches them to the tables, and she buys those straws with umbrellas for the drinks. She has a pool and she has these huge (the size of dinner plates) artificial hawaiian looking flowers that she floats in it. She also uses leis and coconuts for center pieces.

| Instead of cake, you could make those pudding cups, kinda like that dirt cake except you use all vanilla. Vanilla pudding, vanilla wafers. You crunch up the wafers on top and it looks like beach sand then put one of those umbrellas on a toothpick that they use for drinks on top. I did this kind of theme for my son's birthday one year. The kids favorite was "beach" bingo but don't think you'd be able to use that for an adult party. I've also seen the dirt cake made in sand buckets and that was cute too. Good luck! |
