| Hybrid? Does anyone have one? Im trying to do as much research as I can..I want a hybrid SUV and I think I am leaning towards the Ford Escape. I just graduated from college and got my first big girl job at a law firm in Atlanta. But, Im planning to move back home with my parents for a year and get a new car instead of moving downtown. The commute is going to be HORRIBLE ..my little car wont be able to take it. Anyone have any experience with the Escape or hybrids in general??

| I have owned a Prius for 2 years and I love it. I average about 50 miles per gallon. There is a trick to learning to drive these to get maximum fuel economy, but you will learn fast. Keep this in mind. My tank only holds 10-11 gallons and I go 400-500 miles on a tank. Each time I fill up, even at the highest gast prices, I don't seem to exceed $25.00. I also got a big tax credit for buying a hybrid. In addition, I am exempt from vehicles emissions testing in my state. The Prius also has lots of extra safety features that give me a break on my car insurance. There are lots more things to think about than MPG, including the impact of the zero emissions on our environment. My Prius has been trouble free so far. It's very comfortable on long trips and has lots of interior space. With the back seats and front passenger seat folded down, you can haul most anything in it. PM me if you want more info.

| I had a Ford Escape and I LOVED it!! My favorite of all the vehicles we've owned. It was a good size for hauling loads of stuff when we needed to but still felt small, sporty and was so easy to park.... One of my friends also had one and she said she loved it too. When the Escapes first came out there were a few recalls on them, but now I believe most of the problems back then are now all fixed. The best thing to do is a search on reviews from real people who have actually owned the vehicle and not just the reviews from the experts that test drive the cars for a day, although some of those are helpful too. I would buy another Escape in a heartbeat. |

| I don't know anything about SUVs or hybirds. I wanted to issue a CONGRATULATIONS to you on your graduation and position with the Atlanta Law Firm. You know, there are several YTers in and around Atlanta. We will have to start thinking about a meet-up/playday! |

| My one piece of advice is to check for any recalls, this vehicle has had a few already. |

| jm2c- By the way, you might consider looking at an HHR. Go to your local Chevy dealership and actually take a look at the inside of one. They're very roomy, unbeatable in the gas mileage for it's size. I LOVE mine! I bought an '06 and then traded it in for the '07. No real reason other than to re-up the guarantees and so on. They didn't really make many changes from the first year to the next. Mine is manual and it's large enough for me, my daughter and all the dogs to take a trip and gets mad good gas mileage! (ps. they hold their value really well too! A must for an investment in a new vehicle) Last edited by yorkieK9trainer; 06-14-2007 at 07:30 PM. Reason: additions |
