| Well excited? well maybe a little but its more of I want to prove to my family that I CAN do this.....LA Weight Loss is VERY EXPENSIVE and I know some people are like "she is just going to waste her money" because I was on another program which was less expensive and didn't succeed

| My sister and I joined a few years ago. At first we lost weight and we were so excited. After a month or two, we stopped losing weight and they had no explanation for our plateau or advice on how to get over the problem. I thought we were both very anti-LA, but my sister joined again in late '05. She had the same experience- great at first but then a plateau with no support from the councelors. She was really discouraged when she ate exactly to the "T" of their plan and then gained nearly a pound after eating a slice of cake one day. Just thinking of the science of weight loss, that shouldn't be enough to make a person gain weight when they're eating well and excercising. Again, I don't want to discourage you, but I would advise you to demand answers if you have a question. There was a report on one of the evening programs (Dateline or 20/20, etc.) last week that it's misleading because the counselors aren't trained in nutrition or weight loss. One of my mom's former employees was a counselor there and said just as much. I wish you the best of luck with your weight loss. Just put your mind to it and I'm sure you'll do well! |

| There was a special recently on 20/20 I think?? about LA weightloss. Former weightloss councelors talking badly about their former employer. They were instructed to push their bars and products. They were not educated about weightloss, nutrition nor how to councel for weightloss. Their moto was if the customer cries, she'll buy. As in... they used your information that you gave them and how you feel about your weight to make you feel bad about yourself and buy more of their products. Google 20/20 LA weightloss and see what comes up for you. Many lawsuits have been made. edited to add I really wish you the best on your weightloss however you decide to do it! I just wanted you to be aware of this companies issues. I have lost 45 pounds since October doing low carb. Last edited by chloeandj; 03-01-2007 at 09:28 AM. |

| Thanks so much you guys for all the posts I never new of such a thing on 20/20 I'll just see how I do because by the end of me loosing 45 lbs I would have spent a little over a thousand dollars <----- THAT ALONE makes me have second thoughts! AND thats not includeing the food that I am buying at the grocery store. Who knows maybe after 3-4 months of loosing weight I may stop and try and continue on my own....

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I needed to lose 15 and have really bad hormone problems - I DID lose it on Nutrisystems and it's not nearly that expensive - just something to think about and they offer 2 weeks free food right now too GOOD LUCK !! Dieting is HARD |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | QVC has the Nurti system and also with a 30 day money back. Any diet you go on you will have plateau's so just keep at it and the weightloss will start again.

| I was about to say that I watched that program (Dateline, I believe) about the LA Weight Loss Centers....big red flag with them. Almost any "diet/fitness" place is going to charge you at the rear to join and for their weight loss. Most though, get you when you have to buy their food, supplements, etc. I was told to stay away from plans where you have to purchase "their" foods, supplements, etc. Good luck!

| Just want to wish you luck. I can assume you had no luck with weight watchers. Everyone seems to think it's a good program. I have a friend who lost 65lbs on it and kept it off until recently. However she is not watching what's she's eating so there's the answer. I started following the program a week ago. Dropped 3 1/2 lbs in the first week. I need to lose only 10 more but it seems like a good way to loose weight. Good luck on whatever you do. Hope it works great for you. Carol & Buddy |

| I lost over 50 pounds thanks to LA Weight Loss After I gave birth to my daughter I went to them but only signed on to lose 20 pounds (I said that would be my goal since they charge you depending on pounds #) I refused any and all pills or vitamins (yes you could just tell them you are already taking your own) as I already take one-a-day. All I bought from them was the LA Bars for 10 and 3 pm snacks. I lost the 20 pounds thru the program and kept on losing after I was on maintanance. Back then they were very helpful and knowlegable. Really learned how to eat a balanced diet that included all food groups and drink lots of water and "think healthy" I have not gained any of it back up to now. I wish you all the best in losing weight. Its never easy but it sure is worth it!!

| I am loving Nutrisystem! I had lost 10 before I got my order by following my Weight Watchers materials. Now i have lost 14 pounds more on my first month of NS. That is 24 ugly old fat pounds gone! Yea! I like most of the NS food and find it is filling me up for the most part. There are a few things that I will not order again but most is good. I like that there is a dessert everyday. If I start craving something sweet, I just tell myself I have that dessert coming later on. Pudding, chocolates, cookies -- that way I do not feel deprived KWIM?

| Sorry to take over your thread I have a question.....What do these places consist of? I mean, what are they teaching you? I am seriously wanting to know because I have toyed w/ the idea of bumping up my weight lose techniques. Years (I mean years) ago, I did a fitness/diet program...I had to go three times a week, they didn't really teach you any healthy eating habits, but they did go over eating out meals (what to look for on the menu) and they did give a list of foods (I remember carrots and corn..course there were lots more), that were not good for you.???!!! They were big on selling the supplements, soup mixes, drink mixes, etc. I did good on just watching what I ate and doing my normal walking.....then I hit the "plateau" stage and that was it...there was no other help..... I have thought about joining another group, but there is always the hassle of "buying" crap you don't need and the time it takes to drive to a place and going so many times a week. I am just wondering...most doctors I have been to have the dietician on staff that you can talk to....and I know when I had all my thyroid problems, this was covered under my insurance....so each visit was just my $20 copay....So, if it is all about healthy eating and learning what to eat and what not to eat....how to live a healthier life, etc.....I am thinking that it may be cheaper and maybe even better just to visit my doctor and use their dietician services....what do you think?
