| Have you ever been hang gliding, bungee jumping, or sky diving before? Hi Guys, has any of you ever been hang gliding, sky diving, or bungee jumping before?? I really want to do one of these, once winter is over and the winds are in better control haha. The thing is, I'm terrified over the 'what ifs' haha. I don't even know why I'm looking this stuff up. I think i'd prefer hang gliding, it seems more safe. You never really hear about hang gliding accidents. lol. there was an article on cnn today about a sky diving murder, so hmmm, i doubt im going to ever do that haha. so have any of you guys ever done something like this before? if so, how was it?? would u do it again? - Peggy |

| I have always wanted to do all three of those. I almost did bungee jumping a long time ago, but it cost so much (back then it did) - a friend went before me (like 4 ahead of me) and he snapped so hard, that it actually hurt is back (can't imagine why (ha)) - anyway, I didn't do it after that! Hang Gliding would be soooo FUN! The highest point in our state isn't too far away from where I live. There are three mtns in that range that are all high. Anyway, we go down there alot of times to watch the hang gliding club do their thing! It is great! I haven't had a chance to do it, but I would love to. They can go w/ you and do everything - so you are just strapped on for the ride. Same w/ skydiving....that would be a blast too - I would definitely go the first few times strapped to someone else. There is a place here in NWA that does that - it is a sky diving ranch - but, again, I just hate to spend that much money, but it would be a great "once in a lifetime thing".

| Sounds like you want an adventure! Bungee jumping scares me because of the whiplash effect, but I did go skydiving two years ago in Las Vegas (outside Vegas). It was pretty fun, and quite a rush when you are freefalling, which is the part before they pull the parachute, and definitely the best part! If you go with a professional and a good company, it is pretty safe, as you have to go tandem with someone else and they do pack two parachutes (one main, one reserve). For me, I think once is enough. I just wanted to try it out after a few friends raved about it. When I was at the skydiving place, there was like 20 people signed up around the same time as me. I think 10 of them ended up not doing it. Last edited by fasteddie; 01-25-2007 at 03:27 PM. |

| I did bungee jump. It was in Destin, Florida. It seemed like I was in slow motion when I was falling. Don't really have the desire to do it again. |

| I went skydiving twice when I was 19. The line to my chute was attached to the plane so it would open on it's own which is what they did for students without 10 successful dives. The first time I didn't arch my back when I stepped off of the wing and I went into a barrel roll. The line wrapped around my neck and ripped my helmet right off of my head. The helmet had the radio in it for me to communicate with the instructor to guild me to my landing so I was on my own. The front of my neck was (sorry to be gross) like raw hamburger. They said I was lucky it didn't snap my neck. I was doing this with my roommate and she had a great jump and wanted to go again. We were a bit competitive (remember- we were 19) so as soon as my neck healed- yep, I did it again. This time was better but the line caught under my arm and gave me a little burn. I decided, okay Nikki, enough is enough. So that was the end of it for me. I have to admit it was really cool and the adrenaline rush is amazing but I would NEVER, EVER do it again! As an aside, a while after this happened, I was taking English Comp in college and had to right a paper on an experience I had had and I wrote about this. I had one of those sadistic instructors that liked for us to read our assignment out loud. After I read mine, a classmate said, I heard all about you! Apparently the skydiving site was using me as an example of what NOT to do in it's classes.
