| Yuck! My mail just arrived and I'm so not thrilled. I received a summons to be a juror on the Grand Jury. It's for 18 weeks on Mondays. I think that brings me through late May, start Jan. 22. Well, I guess I will have lots of others for company. I wonder what the pay is, doubt it will pay for parking. I feel anyone indicted is guilty, (just kidding). Jessica |

| I was sent a jury notice but all I had to do was appear with a whole lot of others and then they started breaking it down as to reasons you could not serve on the jury. Like you do not believe in the death penalty, you have an illness that requires extensive care, caretaker for individuals, snowbirds, etc. So there are reasons that you may not be selected once you get there.

| Maybe you won't qualify for a juror in this case!

| Grand jury is actually kind of interesting. I got picked as an alternate once but was never called. I think it would have been interesting. They only picked 12 + 6 alternates and there were probably 50-100 people there that day. Just be honest with the person asking the questions. If you can't commit for whatever reason tell them that. Tell them you would like to serve at a later date (like in the summer if you go to school, or whatever.) Our county pays $10/day plus mileage. Some counties around here pay $12-$25. I don't know about parking but if you have to pay to park I bet they pay for it or give you a parking pass of some sort. Also, I'm pretty sure your job can't penalize you for serving on a jury.

| That should be interesting. I was on a jury once -- not a grand jury though. It was a complicated case involving an automobile accident and injuries. I really enjoyed seeing the whole process work. I only had to serve a couple of weeks though so it was not a big inconvenience.
