| Record Breaking Had to share This is an email that I received from my Son-In- Law. The Must Skis mentioned are the ski team that my daughter and SIL belong to. Niether of them are included here. They don't ski, they run the boat that pulls the skiers for their team. Here is the story. Sept 16, 2006 Beaverland Must Skis in conjunction with 3 other teams BROKE a world record!!! I will have pictures to follow. Skinny For those of you who have not heard the news yet. Evinrude's Big Pull attempt to break the world record of 44 skiers in a human pyramid on water behind one boat was successfully accomplished twice on Saturday at Lake Wazeecha some where around 3:00 pm, and 4:30 pm. Skiers from the Mad-City Ski Team, the Aqua Skiers, Badgerland, and Beaverland completed 4 each 4 tier pyramids behind Mad Cities triple 225 Horse Power Evinrude E-Tec Dyna Ski. A total of 48 skiers on the 9th attempt of the day. Closely followed by lunch, then 2 each 4 tier pyramids by the Aqua Skiers and Badgerland, plus Double Top three high pyramids by Mad City and Beaverland, 45 total skiers behind one boat. Must-ski members who will be listed on National Show Skiers Association (NSSA) and Guinness World Record rosters include: Riane Wilkie, Kristin Jameson, Sarah Kolby, Terri Bell, Sarah Janus, Cody Freber, Ron Wilkie, Dave Bell, Jamie Malek, Wade Malek, Eric Jameson, Jim Viola, and Mark Mahan. (Mark skied in the Aqua Skier 4 high pyramid.) Evinrude used this event to film footage for upcoming promotional material. Must-skis also recorded for possible promotional videos and commercials were Emma Zellmer in the Double Top Three High on the 10th pull and on her ballet ski, plus Tommy Schmidt and Mark Mahan barefooting, and Mark Mahan slalom skiing. While the record book will list the aforementioned individual members, this was a team effort and the Beaverland Must-Skis will always be referenced when anyone talks about the new record. You should all feel proud to be Must-Skis. Other team members helping: Erich Zellmer-pick up boat driver, Chad Weizencel - spotter, Alyssa Wilkie - Spotter, Tommy Schmidt - Spotter, plus numberous others watching and supporting. Congratualations and thanks to all! Thanks, Ron |

| I'm 44 now, but when I was in my teens I was a water ski instructor and was a member of a ski team in Nova Scotia. We practiced 5 days a week and performed at many events...needless to say I was on the water all the time! The biggest pyramid we ever made was 6 person (I was never a petite girl, so I was either in the middle or on the bottom of the pyramid ) I know the coordination that had to go into building a pyramid of that size...I can't imagine building one with 44 skiers. How exciting! I'm so sad I had to give it up...I'd give anything to be able to ski again, but don't think I'd be able to ski with my cane. Congrats to all the participants...exciting! |
